Our First ever Butter cookies

My not so little one requested me a cookie today. Mummy, make cookie. Yes! So why not, that will be our activity for today then. It’s my first time making a cookie. I searched in the facebook baking groups for a perfect recipe. Preparation was easy and quick to make.

I apologize if they don’t look neat and uniform, I actually don’t know how to pipe. This is my first try out, But i can guarantee that this recipe is tasty and foolproof. So please bear with me.

I made a DIY piping bag by placing the cookie dough in a Ziploc bag and cut a little at the base.

Ingredients

200 gms, Butter, room temperature
245 gms, All purpose flour, sifted
½ cup, sugar
2 tbsp, cornstarch
2 tsp, vanilla essence
½ tsp, lemon/lime juice, optional
½ tsp, salt, optional

Preparations

Preheat the oven at 350 degree fahrenheit for 20 minutes. Place baking paper in a baking pan.
Combine the flour, cornstarch and salt. Mix well.
In a separate bowl, cream the butter and sugar, Add the vanilla and lemon or lime juice. Mix well, but don’t over do it.
Add the flour mixture gradually into the creamed butter and mix until well combined.
Place the mixture in a piping bag and pipe 1 - 1½ inches long into the baking pan.
Bake for 15-18 minutes or until golden brown.
Transfer it in a cooling rack.

You can add a couple of minutes if you want it slightly toasted.

It’s delicious, buttery and crispy, Melts in the mouth and is a great treat anytime of the day.

There was one, very happy little boy helping out making the cookie. With a wide smile and excited face, these cookies can’t go wrong. I can say that he is proud and feels like a big boy. What a lovely time!
