Spicy Bengali Dish - "Tel Koi", another delicious fish recipe

Hello guys,
Last week I shared a Bengali fish recipe "Bhetki Paturi", now, today, I am going to share another fish recipe - "Tel Koi". It's a very healthy & delicious fish recipe. In Bengali "Tel" means "Oil" & "Koi" means "Climbing Perch". So, "Tel Koi" means a recipe in which "Koi (Climbing Perch)" fish is entirely cooked in "Tel (mustard oil)" with masala.

Now, let's start-

Ingredients:

  1. Koi - 3-4 pcs
  2. Mustard Oil - 150 ml
  3. Turmeric Powder - 3 tbsp
  4. Cumin Powder - 3 tbsp
  5. Red chili powder - 1 tbsp
  6. Green chili - 3-4 pcs
  7. Black Cumin - 1 tbsp
  8. Salt - as needed

Mustard Oil & Masala

Procedure:
=> Cut all Koi & clean very well.
=> Marinate all Koi with one table-spoon mustard oil, one table-spoon turmeric powder & 1/2 table spoon salt. Do not keep it in the fridge. Just marinate for only 10-12 minutes in the normal environment.

Marination

=> Now, add little oil (approximately 4-5 table spoon) to the fry pan. Fry all marinated Koi at medium stage flame. Fry until both sides of the fish turns brownish colour. Put down all fried Koi & keep aside them in a bowl.

Fried Koi

=> Now take a bowl. Pour 1 cup normal water. Add 2 table spoon turmeric powder, 2 table spoon cumin powder & 1 table spoon red chili powder. Stir very well for 1-2 minutes. Keep aside this masala mixture.

Masala mixture

=> Pour rest of the oil to the pan. Keep the flame at medium stage. Add 1 table spoon black cumin & masala mixture. Fry the masala mixture for at least 1 minute.

=> After then add all fried Koi to the masala mixture. Add chopped green chilies. Keep the flame at medium stage & cook for maximum 5-6 minutes only.

=> Your favourite "Tel Koi" is ready to serve with steamed rice.
