I wouldn't have found this restaurant myself as it's really in the middle of no where (in Chainat). Luckily, we have our high school friend who born, raised and live there who recommended us the place. We met there for lunch. The place called 'Tee Gao'

Tee gao (ที่เก่า)

Tee gao means old place / same place, gives the feeling of nostalgia somewhat. Already feel the warmth, homey vibes just hearing that.

The place is indeed lovely. It's all green! Full of trees, and shades. It looks old school and I'm pretty sure the house itself is many years old. There are a few areas to choose from, both indoor and outdoor. We went with the indoor with air con as it's freakin' hot in Thailand during the Thailand's summer if you can imagine.

Inside decoration is also quite interesting. There are colorful headdresses, these Thai dolls they use for a specific Thai art performance and so on. Enjoyable to just look around and check those out especially if you're a foreigner.

Tee gao's Chef!

I love how they have a story of how the place was founded. The owners are a couple and the husband is an international chef who used to live and work abroad. They both are passionate about food and love trying and cooking all kinds of thing. At some point in life, when they feel like coming back home, they're back to Chainat and opened their own restaurant that would fit all kinds, all ages of people. Tee Gao it is!

Tee Gao's food!

We ordered quite a few different kinds of food so that we can try many different things all at once. One thing they recommend in the menu and I also find it astonishing, the deep fried whole fish with herbs. It's the whole fish but they actually cut it up somewhat before frying the whole thing and serve as a whole again. The spices they use make it salty, spicy and herby at the same time so it's so good with rice! If you EVER have a chance, this dish is totally a way to go!

Stir fry vegetables, was same-o same-o.

Another dish I really liked was this deep fried pork with garlic, salt and chilis. Real crispy with just the right amount of fat (I likey!) This one is another one that goes sooooo dang good with steamed rice so I so recommend!

Overall, I like that place a lot. It's super local and seriously a hidden gem. It's not in a tourist town plus it's in the middle of nowhere so that should tell you something! Love it a lot. So affordable too. I think we paid something like 200 THB each including the drinks. I would totally go back again if I'm in Chainat (Again, love that province! It's so authentic and untouched!)

What would be your most favorite dish here? :)

I love how green the whole place is. Definitely throws off a cool vibe.

Wow amazing 😍

It sure was such an experience! :)

Looks like a great place to have a meal. The fish and vegetable dishes look tasty.

Totally agreed with that!
