Can't insist enough how much I love tofu! Good in savory dishes, great in sweet dishes as well! Full of protein so it's hella healthy!

When arrived in Chiang Mai a few months ago, there's a tofu place close by to where I lived. I was all about it. 'Pim Tofu', from the name, you might have guessed it, it's all about tofu! (well, maybe a few other things here and there but still, real healthy!)

The shop is simple, just a deep fry station in front and a few seats inside and outside. They don't sell the atmosphere, they sell the food! so why not dig in.

Deep fried tofu

There are a few types of tofu, at least for what I know. Egg tofu which is real soft almost melt in your mouth. Soy bean tofu which is what we're getting into here. Soy bean tofu is more firm (many different textures though depend on the ingredient ratio).

They offer the plain version, which is just a regular tofu deep fried that comes with a sweet and sour dipping sauce. The gimmick though is that there are a few flavors from charcoal, carrot, seaweed. It sure gives different colors to the tofu but I don't think it changes the taste much.

Another cool one is these 2 big thin pieces of tofu deep fried with a layer of cheese in between. When it gets bitten, the cheese just came out like a lava. I didn't try this one exactly but so sure it tastes like heaven!

Tofu chips

This one sounds cool as well! I honestly have never had a chance to try just yet but this is sure one of the healthiest snacks you ever come across. A thin slice of dry tofu deep fried and bam! Crispy tofu chips!

Soy milk

As they both, soy milk and tofu made from soy, it just makes so much sense they combined both things! Not only a pure classic soy but there some flavors added as well. Cocoa, Thai tea, green tea and so on. There are also options of a few topping to choose from as well. More like bubble tea but with tofu drink!

Shiitake mushroom balls

This is a little out of the theme but I think it's as healthy as one another. Shiitake mushroom balls are also on the menu. I loveeee this a lot! The texture is quite different from other meat balls. It also quite rubbery because there's konjac as an ingredient as well.

Besides the cheese, this could totally be a vegan favorite spot in Chiang Mai. So healthy and so yummy. The price is also reasonable! You can get a set of deep fried tofu for 35THB, a bottle of soy milk for 25THB and a plate of shiitake mushroom for 35THB.

I sure will go back to the place again but Chiang Mai just got so much to offer and I just want to try them all so, ... !
