Hello everyone and welcome to my blog at this hour. I made my tiger nut drink known as Kunuaya in Nigeria and it was a milky one. In my last post I explained the process I followed to get the ingredients and the reasons for buying the types I got.
So,let's go through the procedures to get the kunuaya ready.
- Tiger nuts (Aya)
- Dates (Dabino)
HOW TO PREPARE
Wash the tiger nuts and dates very neatly
If you got dry dates and tiger nuts you need to soak them for about 20 hours or overnight before you blend them.
This is to make sure it is soft and easy to blend
This process can be skipped if you got fresh ones.
When it's time to blend wash the dates and remove the seeds. The seeds are quite hard, it need to be removed so that it doesn't spoil the blades of the blender.
Break the coconut and remove the edible part
Wash the ginger and garlic and remove the back.
Gently place the dates, tigernut, ginger, garlic and coconut in the blender.
Blend the ingredients together with cold water
Pour the mixture into a sieve and separate the shaft from the milk.
You can also use a tiny net or mesh to do this process
Blend the shaft again with some water to extract more milk
Repeat the process of using a sieve or tiny net to extract the milk
Dispose the shaft
Pour the drink in a cup and drink.
