Hola amigos de Hive, en esta ocasión quiero reseñarles una pelicula de terror estrenada en los 80’s, atendiendo al concurso de la comunidad CINETV CineTV Contest: The Best Of Horror. | CHALLENGE #03.
Son pocas las películas de terror de los 80 que he visto o que recuerdo, entre ellas Pet Sematary, The shining, Hellbound Hellriser II, Poltergeist, Re-animator, entre otras. Por ello decidí ver una película que no hubiese visto para ampliar mi repertorio y ofrecerles una reseña.
Se trata de la película Basket Case, una película que me llamó la atención por tener el mismo nombre de una popular canción de la banda de Punk nortemaricana Green Day. Esta película fue producida en 1982, dirigida por Frank Henenlotter y protagonizada por Kevin Van Hentenryck.
Basket Case nos relata la historia de un joven llamado Duane que llega a la ciudad de Nueva York cargando una cesta cuadrada de gran tamaño, este decide hospedarse en un hotel barato, y pronto los inquilinos empiezan a inquietarse por ruidos extraños en la habitación de Duane. El joven intenta ocultar a toda costa aquello que lleva en la cesta, pero pronto se vuelve una tarea complicada, cuando aquello dentro de la cesta empieza a salirse de control y a actuar violentamente llegando a asesinar a un inquilino del hotel.
Duane asiste al médico, y el doctor nota que el joven lleva una cicatriz en el costado derecho de su abdomen, lo cual trae a su mente recuerdos de una separación de siameses que llevó a cabo años atrás, un procedimiento un tanto inusual, pues el hermano del joven no era más que una masa con rostro adherida en su costado y violando cualquier sentido ético decidieron echarlo a la basura.
Ahora el hermano siamés de Duane decide cobrar venganza contra aquellos que intentaron deshacerse de él en el pasado. Duane conoce a una chica y más adelante ve su vida personal e íntima afectada al sentirse controlado y prisionero de su hermano, ya que sus pensamientos están compartidos por una especie de telepatía, algo que finalmente provoca una acontecimiento trágico para ambos.
Esta película me gustó bastante, aunque las incógnitas son reveladas de manera rápida, logra mantener la atención del espectador durante todo el film, me encantó ver que utilizaron la técnica del stop motion para algunas escenas, y no pude evitar relacionar esta película con el episodio especial de Noches de Brujas VII de Los Simpsons, en donde Bart tiene un hermano gemelo malvado llamado Hugo, que vive en el ático, posiblemente dicho episodio hace una referencia a esta película.

There are few horror movies from the 80's that I have watched or that I remember, among them Pet Sematary, The Shining, Hellbound Hellriser II, Poltergeist, Re-animator, etc. So I decided to watch a movie that I had not watched to expand my repertoire and offer you a review.
It is the movie Basket Case, a movie that caught my attention for having the same name of a popular song of the North American Punk band Green Day. This movie was produced in 1982, directed by Frank Henenlotter and starring Kevin Van Hentenryck.
Basket Case tells the story of a young man named Duane who arrives in New York City carrying a large square basket, he decides to stay in a cheap hotel, and soon the tenants begin to worry about strange noises in Duane's room. The young man tries to hide what he is carrying in the basket at all costs, but it soon becomes a complicated task, when the thing inside the basket starts to get out of control and act violently, even killing a tenant of the hotel.
Duane goes to the doctor, and the doctor notices that the young man has a scar on the right side of his abdomen, which brings to his mind memories of a Siamese separation he carried out years ago, a somewhat unusual procedure because the young man's brother was nothing more than a mass with a face attached to his side and violating any ethical sense they decided to throw him away.
Now Duane's Siamese brother decides to take revenge against those who tried to get rid of him in the past, Duane meets a girl and later he sees his personal and intimate life affected as he feels controlled and imprisoned by his brother, as their thoughts are shared by a kind of telepathy, something that eventually causes a tragic event for both of them.
I liked this movie quite a lot, although the unknowns are revealed quickly, it manages to keep the viewer's attention throughout the film, I was fascinated to see that they used the stop motion technique for some scenes, and I related this movie to the episode of Treehouse of Horror VII of The Simpsons, where Bart has an evil twin brother, who lives in the attic, possibly that episode makes a reference to this movie.

Todo un éxito en video, combinando terror y video, un clásico de los años 80 con Stop Motion, sangre y un argumento alucinante, toda una relación amor-odio entre hermanos, son dos caras de la misma moneda. Me entretuvo bastante cuando la vi. Suerte en el concurso.

Las películas de los 80' tenían pocos efectos pero nos daban unas impresiones que nunca olvidaremos. Muchas suerte en el concurso.
Es verdad los directores se esforzaban mucho más en crear miedo a traves de la historia, ahora se lo dejan mucho más a los efectos especiales. Gracis por comentar, saludos
