Beauty and the Beast is a Disney film from 1991, at that time I was 6 years old, I remember my parents took me to the cinema to whatch it and I was very happy, nowadays it is my favourite Disney film, although now that I am an adult I obviously have a very different vision from the one I had when I was a child.
La Bella y la Bestia es una película de Disney de 1991, en esa época yo tenía 6 años, recuerdo que mis padres me llevaron al cine a verla y yo estaba muy contenta, hoy en día es mi película de Disney favorita, aunque ahora que soy adulta obviamente tengo una visión muy diferente de la que tuve cuando era una niña.
Haha I must confess that when I was a child and I saw the first appearance of Bella I thought it was certainly beautiful but boring, always with that book in her hands "as if it had been the most exciting thing in the world" (who would have thought that nowadays I love reading so much that I even write stories). Another thing that struck me was The Beast, I was very afraid of him because I imagined how big and fierce he would be, so I supposed that if I had been near him I would have run away terrified.
Jaja debo confesar que cuando yo era niña y vi la primera aparición de Bella me pareció ciertamente hermosa pero aburrida, siempre con ese libro en la mano "como si hubiese sido lo más emocionante del mundo", (quien diría que hoy en día amo tanto leer y que incluso escribo historias) Otra de las cosas que me impactó fue La Bestia, yo le tenía mucho miedo porque imaginaba lo grande y feroz que sería, así que suponía que si yo hubiese estado cerca de él hubiese huido despavorida.
I remember I loved Belle's beautiful gold dress and dreamed of having one just like it.
Recuerdo que yo amaba el bellísimo vestido dorado de Bella y soñaba con tener uno igual.
I remember that my favourite character apart from Belle, was Chips, the little cup, I loved him and in a way I identified with him because I also remember that in the post-credit scenes it was revealed that the person who gave the voice to that character was a six year old boy like me, and I also identified with his shrewdness and curiosity.
Recuerdo que mi personaje favorito aparte de Bella, era Chips, la pequeña tacita, me encantaba y de cierta forma me identificaba con él porque también recuerdo que en las escenas post crédito se reveló que quien le daba la voz a ese personaje era un niño de seis años como yo, y también me identificaba con su sagacidad y curiosidad.
The scene that was very shocking for me at the time and still shocks me, is Gaston's attack on the Beast, I was filled with impotence because at that point I was no longer afraid of the Beast and also, I feel that Gaston acted cowardly in the sense that at first it was a one-sided attack, the beast didn't even defend itself, it was too sad and probably wanted to die. It's a scene that made me cry in the cinema and still to this day it moves me and fills me with helplessness.
La escena que me resultó muy impactante en esa época y todavía me impacta, es la del ataque de Gastón a la Bestia, me llené de impotencia porque a esas alturas ya yo no le temía a La Bestia y además, siento que Gastón actuó cobardemente en el sentido de que al principio fue un ataque unilateral, La Bestia ni siquiera se defendió, estaba demasiado triste y probablemente quería morir. Es una escena que me hizo llorar en la sala de cine y aún hoy en día me conmueve y produce impotencia.
Nowadays watching this film gives me many more feelings, for example, I am pleased with the fact that Belle is not one of those typical beautiful girls who only dreamed of marrying a prince and living in an imposing castle, although she does indeed end up marrying the prince and living in a castle, she was a woman way ahead of her time, she was a dreamer, she wanted adventure, she loved to read and discover new things every day, and I definitely don't think she stopped just because she married the prince.
Hoy en día ver esta película me produce muchas más sensaciones, por ejemplo, me complace el hecho de que Bella no sea de esas típicas chicas hermosas que solo soñaban con casarse con un príncipe y vivir en un imponente castillo, si bien ella termina efectivamente casándose con el príncipe y viviendo en un castillo, ella era una mujer muy adelantada para su época, era soñadora, quería aventuras, amaba leer y descubrir cosas nuevas cada día, y definitivamente no creo que se haya detenido solo por casarse con el príncipe.

Al ser la hija de un inventor era normal que tuviera ideas adelantadas para su época, que fuese soñadora y creativa, la gente de su aldea opinaba que ella era extraña porque las mujeres de esa época se limitaban a su entorno, solo a ser madres o amas de casa, ni siquiera sabían leer ni escribir, por esa razón las trillizas no comprendían que Bella rechazara tanto a Gastón, quien era muy guapo y fuerte pero también era egoísta, narcisista y solo quería tenerla porque era la única que no lo idolatraba, para tenerla como un adorno más de su casa y que lo atendiera como si fuese su esclava, aún así ella era demasiado noble y las veces que lo rechazó lo hizo con diplomacia, digna actitud de una persona con educación.
Many people believe that Belle's love for the Beast was nothing more than Stockholm syndrome. According to Wikipedia, this refers to the feelings of complicity and affection that a victim develops towards his or her abductor, interpreting the lack of violence as "condescension" or "humanity", but I don't think this is the case with Belle, as the feelings of love in her began to emerge when she realised that the Beast began to show himself to be noble and kind-hearted. Muchas personas opinan que el amor que Bella sentía por La Bestia no era más que síndorme de Estocolmo. Según, Wikipedia esto se refiere a los sentimientos de complicidad y afectividad que desarrolla una víctima hacia su secuestrador, ya que interpreta la falta de violencia como "condescendencia" o "humanidad", pero no creo que sea el caso de Bella ya que los sentimientos de amor en ella surgieron cuando se dio cuenta de que La Bestia comenzó demostrar ser noble y de buen corazón. Al principio cuando él se muestra insolente y autoritario, gritándole y pretendiendo obligarla a que cene con él, ella se niega, pero poco a poco, con las interacciones ambos aprenden a conocerse mejor y posteriormente él la deja marchar cuando sabe que el padre de ella está en peligro, lo hace aunque sabe que ella pudiera no haber regresado junto a él, y se resigna a morir en soledad, con tal de dejarla en libertad.
