Hello my dear friends, today I would like to invite you to participate in one more of @CineTV's wonderful contests. This time we have to talk about the film that has transmitted us kindness, generosity, compassion or any other positive and inspiring feeling. You may be wondering why I chose a film as warlike as Schindler's List, but if you read on you will discover that beyond the bullets and injustice there are all those qualities mentioned above.
Hola mis queridos amigos, hoy quiero invitarlos a participar en uno más de los maravillosos concursos de @CineTV. En esta ocasión debemos hablar acerca del film que nos haya transmitido bondad, generosidad, compasión o cualquier otro sentimiento positivo e inspirador. Tal vez se estén preguntando porqué yo elegí precisamente una película tan bélica como lo es La Lista de Schindler, pero si siguen leyendo descubrirán que más allá de las balas y las injusticia se encuentran todas esas cualidades antes mencionadas.

Schindler's List is a 1993 film directed and produced by the great Steven Spielberg. The story is based on the novel "Schindler's Ark" by Australian writer Thomas Keneally. It is filmed almost entirely in black and white, as Spielberg wanted to give it a look reminiscent of the documentaries made at the end of the war that were used as evidence against Nazi officials in the various trials.
La Lista de Schindler es una película de 1993 dirigida y producida por el gran Steven Spielberg. La historia está basada en la novela «El arca de Schindler» del escritor australiano Thomas Keneally. Está filmada casi en su totalidad en formato blanco y negro, ya que Spielberg quería darle una apariencia que recordara a los documentales hechos al término de la guerra y que fueron usados como pruebas contra los oficiales nazis en los diferentes juicios que hubo.
The one exception about colour was the famous scene of the little girl in the red coat with which the director wanted to depict the way in which members of the highest level of the US government knew what was happening in Europe and the Holocaust to which many people, especially Jews, were falling victim, but they did nothing to prevent it. "It was as obvious as a little girl in a red coat walking down the street, and yet nothing was done, like bombing German railroads.
La única excepción acerca del color, fue la famosa escena de la niña con el abrigo rojo con la cual el director quiso representar la manera en que los miembros del más alto nivel del gobierno de Estados Unidos, sabían lo que estaba ocurriendo en Europa y el Holocausto del que eran víctimas muchas persona, en especial los judíos, pero ellos no hicieron nada por evitarlo. «Era tan obvio como una niña vestida con abrigo rojo caminando calle abajo, y a pesar de ello no se hizo nada, como bombardear las vías férreas alemanas».

In the film, as in the novel, we see the horror of the Second World War and in particular the cruel treatment of the Jews and the genocide known as "The Holocaust", we see it from all angles, the deportations, the eviction from the ghettos, life in the concentration camps and the luxurious life of the Nazi officers. And then we see Oskar Schindler in action (played by Liam Neeson), a German businessman who belongs to the Nazi party and who is looking for investors to found a factory for military kitchen products.
En la película al igual que la novela, podemos ver todo el horror que se desata durante la segunda guerra mundial y en especial somos testigos del cruel trato hacia los judíos y el genocidio conocido como «El Holocausto», lo vemos desde todos sus ángulos, las deportaciones, el desalojo de los guetos, la vida en los campos de concentración y la lujosa vida de los oficiales nazis. Y entonces vemos en acción a Oskar Schindler, (interpretado por Liam Neeson) un empresario alemán perteneciente al partido nazi y que está en la búsqueda de inversionistas para fundar una fábrica de productos de cocina militar.
Schindler hires Itzhak Stern, (played by Ben Kingsley) to be the accountant for his company, and when he gets the money for his factory, he starts hiring Jews as they are cheap labour. Many go to work in his factory as people doing jobs that were not essential to the war were sent to concentration camps, so without knowing or intending to, Schindler began to save many lives.
Schindler contrata a Itzhak Stern, (interpretado por Ben Kingsley) para que sea el contador de su empresa, y cuando consigue el dinero para su fabrica, comienza a contratar judíos ya que son mano de obra barata. Muchos se van a trabajar a su fábrica ya que las personas que desarrollaban trabajos que no eran esenciales para la guerra eran enviados a los campos de concentración, así que sin saber ni pretenderlo, Schindler comenzó a salvar muchas vidas.
Schindler's factory is very successful and has made him rich, but he begins to associate more and more with high-ranking officers to whom he sends gifts. Schindler, who at the time was interested in nothing but his own profit, had hitherto taken little notice of his workers until an old man with a missing arm comes to thank him for the job he gave him. On one occasion, Nazi officials capture some of the factory employees, murder the crippled old man because they do not believe he was an essential worker, and intend to take Stern, the company accountant, but Schindler fortunately arrives in time and with his influence rescues him from the train.
La fábrica de Schindler tiene mucho éxito y lo ha hecho rico, pero él comienza a relacionarse cada vez más con los oficiales de alto rango a los que les envía regalos. But if we think Schindler is selfish, then we realise that this is nothing compared to the real evil that lives inside Amon Göth, the commandant of Auschwitz, played magnificently by Ralph Fiennes. This guy is a sadistic high-ranking officer who enjoys shooting Jews just for fun, and who to his misfortune falls "in love" or I would say rather infatuated with a young Jewish girl named Helen Hirsch, who is very well played by Embeth Davidtz, and takes her on as a servant, even though she was the only one of the women there who had no experience in domestic work. Göth cannot stand all the emotions and feelings that Helen (being Jewish) arouses in him, so he constantly punishes her by beating her, but he cannot kill her, let alone let her go.
Pero si creemos que Schindler es egoísta, luego nos damos cuenta de que eso no se compara con la verdadera maldad que vive dentro de Amon Göth, el comandante de Auschwitz, interpretado magníficamente por Ralph Fiennes. Amon Göth then helps Schindler to recover the workers he had lost when they were captured by Nazi soldiers, but does so in exchange for a share of the factory's profits, although unfortunately he decides to keep Stern, the Jewish accountant at Schindler's factory to work for him, Yet since both Göth and Schindler have become partners, there is no problem with Stern working in the factory from time to time, and he even recommends to his boss that he enlist the help of some of the workers Göth was planning to murder, thus saving their lives.

However Schindler is shocked when he receives a visit from a woman who has come to ask him to rescue her parents, he is frightened because he thinks it is too dangerous for the Nazis to begin to discover that his factory has become a safe house, but Stern tells him all about what Göth does to his prisoners in Auschwitz, Schindler finally agrees to rescue the woman's parents, and later, on one of the occasions when he goes to Amon Göth's house, he meets Helen, his maid, and also realises how Amon feels about her, although she tells him that he actually mistreats her.

Schindler begins to realise the mistreatment and injustice to which the Jews are actually subjected, and on one occasion, noticing the inhumane way in which they were transported in freight cars without food or water under the intense sun, he begins to douse them with jets of water in what Amon and his officers think is an act of cruelty but is nothing more than mercy.

As the years go by, Schindler becomes more and more horrified by what happens inside the concentration and extermination camps, and is particularly shocked to see how the corpses are transferred to the fire where he sees the dead girl in the red coat I told you about at the beginning of the post. To top it all off, there is an order that all Jews, without exception, are to be sent to Auschwitz, including of course the factory workers and of course his accountant Stern.

But Schindler comes up with the idea of creating another factory but for military artillery in Czechoslovakia, but the main objective is to get all his workers back, so he makes a list together with Stern with the names of all the people who once worked for him and others, in total 1,100 Jews, and even takes Helen, whom Amon finally, after much thought, lets go.

The war is over, Germany has been defeated by the Allies, so Schindler says goodbye to his workers in an emotional speech, as he plans to flee because he will evidently be captured for having belonged to the Nazi party, then, in one of the most moving scenes of the whole film, his workers, led by Stern give him a letter where they dedicate him all their support in case he is captured and a ring with some meaningful words in Hebrew engraved on it "He who saves one life, saves the whole world".
La guerra terminó, Alemania ha sido derrotada por los aliados, por lo tanto Schindler se despide de sus trabajadores en un emotivo discurso, ya que piensa huir porque evidentemente será capturado por haber pertenecido al partido nazi, entonces, en una de las escenas más conmovedoras de toda la película, sus trabajadores, liderados por Stern le obsequian una carta donde le dedican todo su apoyo en caso de que sea capturado y un anillo con unas significativas palabras en hebrero grabadas en él «Aquél que salva una vida, salva al mundo entero».
He is terribly sad and feels that he could have done more, that there were more people he could have saved and didn't, then he breaks down emotionally and starts to cry while he is consoled by all his workers, it is a really well done scene because it manages to transmit all his feelings at that moment, repentant for his selfishness at the beginning, he starts to count the money he could have obtained if he sold his car or the button that accredited him as a member of the Nazi party, and with that money he could have saved more people, but there is no doubt that he was the character who evolved the most in the whole film to become a hero full of kindness and love, his dedication was so great that he ended up in poverty by giving everything he had to save as many Jews as possible, but there is no doubt that one of the scenes I enjoyed the most (which is in full colour) is the one at the end, where all the descendants of the people on the list (and some of the members of the list) are visiting Schindler's grave while leaving him rocks (a Jewish tradition). Él está terriblemente triste y siente que pudo haber hecho más, que hubo más personas a las que pudo haber salvado y no lo hizo, entonces se quiebra emocionalmente y comienza a llorar mientras es consolado por todos sus trabajadores, es una escena de verdad muy bien hecha pues logra transmitir todos los sentimientos de él en ese momento, arrepentido por su egoísmo del principio, comienza a hacer cuentas del dinero que pudo haber obtenido si vendía su auto o el botón que lo acreditaba como miembro del partido nazi, y que con ese dinero pudo haber salvado a más personas, pero no cabe dudas de que fue el personaje que más evolucionó en toda la película hasta convertirse en un héroe lleno de bondad y amor, fue tanta su dedicación que terminó en la pobreza al dar todo lo que tenía por salvar a cuantos judíos le fue posible, pero no cabe dudas de que una de las escenas que más disfruté (la cuál está a full color) es la del final, donde están todos los descendientes de las personas de la lista (y algunos de los miembros de ésta) visitando la tumba Schindler mientras le dejan rocas. The excellent work on the soundtrack was done by John Williams who, on seeing the film, thought that composing the musical themes would be a great challenge and therefore said to Spielberg "you need a better composer than me" to which Spielberg replied: "I know, but they are all dead", implying that there was no one better than him to do the job, and the truth is that there is so much emotion enclosed in each note, especially those that transmit pain.
El excelso trabajo de la banda sonora estuvo a cargo de John Williams quien al ver el film pensó que componer los temas musicales serían un gran reto y por lo tanto le dijo a Spielberg «necesitas un mejor compositor que yo» a lo que Spielberg le respondió: «Lo sé, pero todos están muertos», dándole a entender que no había nadie mejor que él para hacer ese trabajo, y la verdad es que hay tantas emoción encerradas en cada nota, sobre todo las que transmiten dolor.
And the aspect that most caught my attention outside of the film was the fact that Steven Spielberg did not receive a salary for his work as a director, he decided to donate it to charity, as he felt that profiting from the money raised by this film was disrespectful to the victims.
Y el aspecto que más llamó mi atención fuera de la película, fue el hecho de que Steven Spielberg no recibió un sueldo por su trabajo como director, él decidió donarlo a una obra de caridad, ya que le parecía que lucrarse con el dinero recaudado por esta cinta era una falta de respeto a las víctimas.
I think that now you will understand why this film transmits to me all those feelings of kindness, justice, generosity and compassion, because Oskar Schindler was a great person who knew how to learn from his mistakes, someone who had everything once, and gave it all for a noble and just cause, without expecting anything in return. Creo que ahora comprenderán porqué ésta película me transmite todos esos sentimientos de bondad, justicia, generosidad y compasión, porque Oskar Schindler fue una gran persona que supo como aprender de sus errores, alguien que lo tuvo todo una vez, y lo dio todo por una causa noble y justa, sin esperar nada a cambio. Excelente elección amiga, esta pelicula es de mis favoritas, es casi inevitable ponerse a llorar al final, cuando todas las personas a las que salvó y su desendencia le colocan una piedra sobre la tumba 😭😭 Gracias por la invitación, no se me ha ocurrido sobre cual pelicula ahablar aun , quien sabe si se me ocurra a tiempo, debo echarle cabeza.
Sí, amigo, la verdad es que esta película conmueve hasta las lágrimas, pero Oskar Shinddler se ganó el cielo. No te preocupes que pronto ya se te ocurrirá algo.
