CineTV Contest #17 - My favorite actor: Charlton Heston.

in CineTV2 years ago

An adventurous treasure hunter who predates Indiana Jones, a plantation owner in South America who faces millions of killer ants, a painter and sculptor who frescoed the Sistine Chapel, a detective who discovers in the year 2022 the composition of a food source of nutrition for a humanity immersed in an ecological catastrophe, a scientist who fights against vampire-like beings, an astronaut on a planet full of apes who faces a terrible truth, a prophet who divided the waters of the Red Sea, a rich prince of Judea who will become an avenger and compete in the Roman Colosseum in chariots.

Ladies and Gentlemen I present Charlton Heston, an actor who had a great physical presence given his 1.91 meters of height, he was the typical Hollywood hero who played great personalities.

In Secret of the Incas he plays Harry Steele, an adventurous and deceitful archaeologist who searches for a treasure considered sacred containing gold and precious stones stolen from the Temple of the Sun in Peru. Steele has in his possession a piece of an ancient stone map indicating where the treasure is hidden.

It is said to be the film that inspired George Lucas' Indiana Jones saga.

In The Naked Jungle , Heston is the owner of a South American plantation who decides to marry by proxy with a beautiful woman who after some altercations with him decides to help him fight against a legion of wild ants that devastate everything in their path.

This is a well-paced, classic adventure film featuring jungle action spiced with romance in which sparks and sexuality jump off the screen.

The Agony and The Ecstasy is about the conflicts between Michelangelo and Pope Julius II during the 1508-1512 painting of the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel. The film masterfully presents the creation of one of the greatest and best works of art ever made by man.

It shows the inner struggle between two people who professed admiration for each other but who constantly provoke each other, an excellent performance by Charlton Heston as Michelangelo and Rex Harrison as Pope Julius II, a great acting duel.

In Soylent Green, during the year 2022, detective Thorn (Charlton Heston) investigates the death of a member of Soylent Industries, while humanity lives in misery and filth thanks to an ecological catastrophe.

The source of nutrition for the population is a cookie called Soylent, but only millionaires have access to it. Then comes to market a variant, more nutritious and better tasting, supposedly made with plankton, until the detective discovers an unprecedented reality.

In The Omega Man, Dr. Robert Neville (Charlton Heston) is, thanks to the outbreak of a biological weapons war, the sole survivor of a virus that kills people or turns them into creatures whose violence has destroyed the city. As the scientist experiments to find a vaccine, he is stalked by these mutant beings.

In The Planet of the Apes, astronaut George crashes with his ship on an unknown planet which is ruled by a race of intelligent apes that enslave humans, who lack the faculty of speech. Their leader, Dr. Zaius, upon discovering Taylor's ability to speak, decides it is best to exterminate him.

Taylor must learn to fight against these apes to discover that this hostile planet is the Earth in one of the best endings ever filmed in cinema.

In The Ten Commandments, Heston is Moses, and it is the most spectacular biblical epic ever filmed in the history of cinema that also contains adventure, and fantasy, it is simply spectacular despite its nearly four-hour running time.

The character of Moses evolves in a very personal and engaging way throughout the story.

In Ben-Hur, Heston carries all the weight of the film, a visually lavish tragic story, which tells of the betrayed friendship between a Roman officer, Messala, and a Jewish prince, Judah Ben-Hur, condemned for life to the galleys, when he is wrongly accused of attempting to murder a Roman procurator. In turn, his mother and sister are confined to the dungeons.

Judah Ben-Hur, who is deeply resentful, is redeemed by the teachings and example of a young rabbi from Nazareth, who is tried and condemned to death by crucifixion.

Charlton Heston was a true chameleon actor, he is the hero of the epic cinema giving life to Moses, Ben-Hur, acting in very important Science Fiction films such as Planet of the Apes, Soylent Green, and The Omega Man, representing historical figures such as Miguel Angel and the Cid Campeador.

He also acted in theater, television, dramas, action and disaster movies, and western movies, and as I said before, he was the prototype of Indiana Jones.

What more can you ask of an actor!

Was the top .gif the source of the monkeypox? :)

Excellent and very actual question. I couldn't answer you, but what I do know is that Cornelius, Zira's husband, would not have liked to see this scene. It's kind of a flirtation between two species as Zira saves Taylor's life.🙉🙈🙊

If you haven't seen it, check out The Buccaneer (1958) where Heston plays General Andrew Jackson, fighting alongside Yul Brynner as Jean Lafitte. It's a great film about the Battle of New Orleans (1814) during the War of 1812.

I will, I will look for it quickly. I am aware that I left out some great movies, for example Touch of Evil is excellent. Thanks for stopping by.
