"Madres paralelas" ("Parallel Mothers") - drama is not only about motherhood 🎞

Hello to all movie lovers! 🎞

A few days ago I watched the movie "Madres paralelas" (Spanish title), "Parallel Mothers" (English).

This is a Spanish film directed and written by Pedro Almodovar. Year: 2021.
Starring: Penelope Cruz, Milena Smit, Rossi de Palma, Aytana Sanchez-Gijonta and others.

This is a dramatic film in which the events will revolve around two women. By chance, they ended up in the maternity hospital at the same time and gave birth to children on the same day.

Women have different temperaments, ages, characters, different life destinies (although somewhat similar). But both of them are distinguished by the fact that they became good mothers for their children. An older woman (Penelope Cruz) wanted to raise a child alone. She is already more than 40 years old, she is self-sufficient and well-off, she does not need a marriage and a father for a child in her life. A smaller mother (Milena Smit) gave birth to a child before she was 18 years old. She doesn't even know who the father is. This event is completely unexpected for her, it is clear that the girl is confused in life, but she also coped with the role of mother perfectly.

What is so interesting about this seemingly ordinary plot? The curiosity begins when an older mother, after an argument with the father of her child, decides to take a DNA paternity test and discovers that the daughter she loves so much is not her child...

The plot is a bit long, in my opinion, but I want to watch the movie to the end. It would seem that in such a simple vortex of life, the two heroines have their own drama. They experience it in their own way and look for ways out of situations, sometimes even unexpected ones.

Also, an important historical and cultural line, which begins and ends the film, is woven into the plot with a continuous thread.

💬 I don't want to tell the story any further, because everyone who wants to watch the film must evaluate the script and the ending for themselves. I will say that I liked the movie, but I wanted it to end sooner.
