This is my first contest in this community and this time I will talk about a highly recommended documentary that I saw a couple of months ago on HBO Max and it is called: Mommy Dead and Dearest, I was very interested in this documentary because I had previously heard a lot about the case that this documentary tells us about.
Documentaries are an excellent way for me to learn about events that happen in the world in a simple and direct way, in my case, my favorites are documentaries about crimes and murderers because I love to learn about the psychology of the criminal and how his experiences and upbringing led him to the point of committing a crime. This case is surprising from different points of view because this time we have two victims and two culprits: mother and daughter, they are victims and culprits at the same time.
Es mi primer concurso en esta comunidad y en está ocasión hablare sobre un documental muy recomendado que lo ví hace un par de meses en HBO Max y se llama: Mommy Dead and Dearest, me interesó mucho este documental porque anteriormente había escuchado mucho sobre el caso que en este documental nos redacta.
Los documentales son una excelente manera para mí de aprender sobre sucesos que pasan en el mundo de una forma sencilla y directa, en mi caso, mis favoritos son los documentales de crímenes y asesinos porque me encanta aprender sobre la psicología del criminal y como sus vivencias y crianza lo llevaron hasta el punto de cometer un crimen. Este caso es sorprendente desde diferentes puntos de vista porque está vez tenemos dos víctimas y dos culpables: madre e hija, son víctimas y culpables al mismo tiempo.

Mommy Dead and Dearest was released in 2017 under the direction of Erin Lee Carr and explores the 2015 murder of Dee Dee Blanchard mother and caretaker of her firstborn Gypsey Rose who was the mastermind of the crime. Surely many will have heard of this story that seems taken from a fairy tale, Dee Dee was recognized and admired by her community and generally, the whole world for her work as a mother, as she alone was able to take care of her little daughter Gypsy who had a myriad of health problems: leukemia, mental disability, asthma, muscular dystrophy, lung problems and many more.
I'm sure you would think that all this in a child is too difficult for one person to keep up with the costs and give her daughter the necessary care, but thanks to her neighbors and the help of many organizations, Gypsy was able to have the necessary care and give her a life a little easier. At first glance we could tell that the mother-daughter relationship was admirable and how dedicated and persevering Dee Dee was.
Mommy Dead and Dearest fue lanzado en 2017 bajo la dirección de Erin Lee Carr y explora el asesinato de Dee Dee Blanchard en 2015 madre y cuidadora de su primogénita Gypsey Rose que fue la autora intelectual del crimen. Seguro muchos habrán escuchado de esta historia que parece sacada de un cuento de hadas, Dee Dee era reconocida y admirada por su comunidad y por generalmente, todo el mundo por su trabajo de madre, ya que ella sola pudo cuidar a su pequeña hija Gypsy la cual tenía un sinfín de problemas de salud: leucemia, discapacidad mental, asma, distrofia muscular, problemas pulmonares y muchos más.
Seguro pensaran que todo esto en una niña es demasiado difícil para una sola persona poder mantener los costos y darle a su hija los cuidados necesarios, pero gracias a sus vecinos y la ayuda de muchas organizaciones, Gypsy pudo tener los cuidados necesarios y darle una vida un poco más sencilla. A simple vista podíamos decir que era admirable la relación madre e hija y lo dedicada y perseverante que era Dee Dee.
However, what if it was all a lie and Dee Dee really was a villain? The "Münchhausen syndrome" is a mental illness that often occurs in mothers, who invent illnesses or cause real symptoms in their children to make their child really look sick and thus obtain sympathy and financial support from many people.
Gypsy was the main victim of all this, her mother deceived her during all her life, the mother tortured her daughter, she shaved her hair, she did not let her walk by herself and even less leave her house, she had her like a prisoner in her own house and she had to take many medicines and go to many consultations and was subjected several times to different types of drugs to calm her down, but when she discovered that everything was a lie, that she could do many of the things that her mother told her she could not, how do you think she would feel?
Sin embargo, ¿Qué pasaría si todo era una mentira y Dee Dee realmente era una villana? El “síndrome de Münchhausen” es una enfermedad mental que presenta frecuentemente en las madres, las cuales inventan enfermedades o causan en sus hijos síntomas reales para que su hijo realmente parezca enfermo y así obtener la compasión y el apoyo económico de muchas personas.
Gypsy era la principal víctima de todo esto, su madre la engaño durante toda su vida, la madre torturaba a su hija, le rapaba el cabello, no la dejaba caminar por si sola ni mucho menos salir de su casa, la tenía como una prisionera en su propia casa y tenía que tomar muchos medicamentos e ir a muchas consultas y era sometida varias veces a diferentes tipos de drogas para calmarla, pero que al descubrir que todo era una mentira, que si podía hacer muchas de las cosas que su mamá le decía que no podía, ¿Cómo crees que se sentiría?
Nobody deserves a life like that, so, it is difficult to judge her because we have not gone through that situation, death was not the best option, I am sure of that, but Gypsy tried to escape many times, but she was always found and punished, maybe for her, killing her mother was the only option she had left to be free. The murder was planned by her and her virtual boyfriend Nicholas who agreed to free Gypsy and have a life together in freedom.
In the documentary we see it clearly from Gypsy's point of view and how her mother's torture led her to commit a crime, we also have the statements of other members of the family, who were also deceived during all these years.
Nadie se merece una vida así, por lo que, es difícil juzgarla porque nosotros no hemos pasado por esa situación, la muerte no era la mejor opción, estoy segura de ello, pero Gypsy trato de escaparse muchas veces, pero siempre era encontrada y castigada, quizás para ella, matar a su madre era la única opción que le quedaba para ser libre. El asesinato fue planificado por ella y su novio virtual Nicholas el cual estaba de acuerdo con liberar a Gypsy y tener una vida juntos y en libertad.
El documental lo vemos claro desde el punto de vista de Gypsy y como las torturas por parte de su madre la llevaron a cometer un crimen, también tenemos las declaraciones de otros miembros de la familia, las cuales también fueron engañados durante todos estos años.
This documentary is very interesting, it deals with several topics and explains many other things about the case, it also deals a little bit with the negligence on the part of the doctors and other health personnel that even though they suspected something was wrong, they did nothing for the girl and subjected a completely healthy girl to many surgeries that were simply not necessary.
There are other documentaries, series and movies that deal with this issue, one of those is the series The Act which I also liked very much, but Madre Muerta y Querida is almost a must see to learn more about this case.
Este documental es muy interesante, trata diversos temas y nos explica muchas otras cosas del caso, también trata un poco del tema de la negligencia por parte de los doctores y otros personal de la salud que aunque sospechaban que algo estaba mal, no hicieron nada por la niña y la sometieron a una niña completamente sana a muchas cirugías que simplemente no eran necesarias.
Existen otros documentales, series y películas que tratan este tema, uno de esos es la serie The Act la cual me gustó mucho también, pero Madre Muerta y Querida es casi que por obligación debes verla para conocer este caso más a fondo.
The reason why I choose it over other much more macabre and mysterious documentaries, is not only because it is well directed and the story is hard to believe that something like this can happen in real life, it is without a doubt a gripping story with many surprises and that in the end, it shows us that not everything is real, the cases despite how incredible and miraculous it looks, is not always real, It shows us that not everything is real, the cases despite how incredible and miraculous they look, are not always real, that the best people in the world can have a dark and unimaginable hidden face and that sometimes, the perpetrator of the crime was the real victim.
Many judged Gypsy for years and continue to judge her, but now there are more people who want to give her a hand and help her to have a better life, among them her father and relatives who were victims of Dee Dee's lies.
La razón por la cual la escojo sobre otros documentales mucho más macabros y misteriosos, es no solo por lo buen dirigido que esta y la historia que es difícil de creerse que algo así pueda pasar en la vida real, es sin dudarlo una historia atrapante y con muchas sorpresas y que al final, nos muestra que no todo es real, los casos a pesar de lo increíbles y milagroso que se vea, no siempre es real, que las personas más buenas del mundo pueden tener una cara oculta tenebrosa e inimaginable y que a veces, el cometedor del crimen era la verdadera víctima.
Muchos juzgaron a Gypsy durante años y la siguen juzgando, pero ahora son más aquellas personas que le desean darle la mano y ayudarla a tener una mejor vida, entre ellas su padre y familiares que fueron víctimas de las mentiras de Dee Dee.
This documentary does not put itself in the place of either one or the other, but shows us this complicated and painful case. For that reason, Madre Muerta y Querida is one of my favorite documentaries and a must see.
Este documental no se pone en lugar ni de una ni de la otra, pero nos muestre ese complicado y doloroso caso. Por esa razón, Madre Muerta y Querida es uno de mis documentales favoritos y uno que debemos ver.
