Lots and lots of people moved to the cities and this created a lot of changes.

Most people lived on the farms or in rural areas and now with the factories and new job opportunities opening up, a lot of people thought they would be able to get away from the poor life they were living.

By the mid-18th century, a number of European states including Britain, Spain, and France were under competition as rising colonial powers. Britain had engaged in tremendous wars such as the Austrian war of succession (1740-1783), Seven Years’ War (1756-1763), American Revolutionary War (1775-1783), and the Napoleonic Wars (1803-1815).

There was a lot of changes happening in Britain because of the pressure they experienced to produce goods that was needed in the war.

Europe was the center of the Scientific Revolution because their were intellectuals like Isaac Newton, Galileo Galilei, and Nicolaus Copernicus. The societies in Europe started getting more open minded towards new discoveries and even gave money for the development of the ideas.

There was also a huge change in the methods of agriculture and changes took place in Belgium and Holland in the 17th to 19th century.

Techniques such as crop rotation, enclosed fields, selective breeding, and manuring increased food production and promoted the idea of capitalism. Moreover, it led to rapid population growth.

By the 18th century a lot of immigrants started coming to Europe and this led to a lot of small industries. India who was a British colony at that stage, influence the production of cotton and Britain was known as the woolen industry even though they could not grow their own cotton because of the cold.

Britain had a lot of coal and iron and used it to build ships, railroads and buildings.

Since the 18th century Britain was the front runner with having banks and a stock exchange.

The central bank of the United Kingdom, now known as the Bank of England was established in 1694 to secure Britain’s financial money and business flow.

Since more people moved to the cities en the economy of Britain was growing, it put a lot of pressure on developing the infrastructure.
