Ser estudiante en Venezuela
La educación en Venezuela puede variar de forma muy radical de colegio a colegio o de ciudad a ciudad. Yo solo he estado en tres colegios, incluyendo el preescolar. En mi segundo colegio estuve desde 1er hasta 5to grado. Era un colegio privado y pensaba que estaba recibiendo una educación bastante decente. A diferencia de muchos colegios públicos donde los niños no veían muchos contenidos o podían aprobar sin hacer prácticamente nada, a mí me daban las materias básicas, el nivel de exigencia era considerable (eso creía) e incluso veía francés. Pensé que estaba bien, hasta que me mudé a Puerto Ordaz.
Para entrar a mi actual colegio, debía presentar un examen de admisión. Así que entré en la página del colegio y revisé las clases de todos los grados. Cuando revisé las clases de 5to (mi grado), me di cuenta de que no me habían enseñado absolutamente nada de lo que estaba ahí. Como si eso fuera poco, el examen no evaluaba lo que había visto en 5to grado, sino lo que debería saber para 6to. Esto significaba que, de seguro, iba a reprobar ese examen.
Para prepararme para el examen, tuve que viajar a Puerto Ordaz una semana antes para entrar a unos cursos de nivelación. Me dieron tantos temas en tan pocos días que en el momento que presenté el examen, se me olvidó todo.
Afortunadamente, en cuestión de 10 minutos pude volver a mi cuerpo, y evité entrar en pánico, poco a poco fui respondiendo casi todo. Hubo cosas que no logré recordar y otras sobre las que no estaba muy segura. Sin embargo, y de manera inesperada, me llamaron unas dos semanas después para informarme que había pasado el examen.
Actualmente me encuentro en cursos de Matemáticas, Física y Química, o lo que aquí llamamos las tres Marías, ya que empezaré a verlas el año que viene.
Me ha surgido la duda respecto a por qué tengo que prepararme tanto para unas asignaturas sobre las que debería aprender en el liceo. Se supone que todos los chicos que van a 9no año de bachillerato tienen cero experiencia en Física, por ejemplo. Sin embargo, pareciera como que ya se espera que sepamos muchas cosas para poder pasar la Física que veremos en ese año. El tiempo lo dirá y el año que viene, por el mes de junio, les contaré.
La mayoría de los colegios en Venezuela carecen de oficinas de apoyo estudiantil, tanto para cosas académicas como para otro tipo de asistencia (manejo de estrés, de tiempo, herramientas tecnológicas, etc.).
Estos cursos preparatorios son caros y si un estudiante no puede pagarlos está en desventaja en relación a aquellos que sí pueden. Creo que la escuela debería garantizar que todos los estudiantes tendrán las mismas oportunidades y que la diferencia la hará las capacidades individuales de cada uno o el esfuerzo y horas de estudio que ponga durante el año escolar. Luego les contaré que tanto me ayudaron los cursos que estoy tomando en estas vacaciones.
Hablando de vacaciones, este año no las he tenido. Una vez que empiece el año escolar estaré muy ocupada con las clases como para pensar en distracciones. Y es aquí donde me surge la duda como joven: ¿Será que toda mi energía se va a invertir en presión escolar? ¿Puede un sistema educativo formar a sus estudiantes con lo que necesitan para avanzar en las siguientes etapas sin generarle este tipo de estrés? Se espera mucho de nosotras. Se espera que tengamos una vida plena y sana; que participemos de actividades deportivas y de recreación, y que cumplamos con obligaciones en nuestros hogares; pero, ¿Cómo puede uno hacer todas esas cosas sin los recursos económicos o sin el tiempo libre?.
¿Será que en todas partes del mundo es así? ¿Será que en algunas partes es peor aún?
Me considero una buena estudiante y quiero aprender todo lo que necesito para triunfar en la universidad, pero a veces me aborda la duda respecto a que tan física y mentalmente sana voy a estar cuando llegue el momento de ir a la universidad.

To Be a Student in Venezuela
Education in Venezuela can vary radically from school to school or from city to city. I've only been to three schools, including preschool. In my second school I was from 1st to 5th grade. It was a private school and I thought I was getting a pretty decent education. Unlike many public schools where children did not see much content or could pass without doing practically anything, they gave me the basic subjects, the level of demand was considerable (I thought so) and I even had French classes. I thought it was fine, until I moved to Puerto Ordaz.
To get into my current school, I had to take an entrance exam. So I went to the school page and checked the classes for all grades. When I reviewed the 5th year classes (my grade), I realized that they had taught me absolutely nothing that was there. As if that weren't enough, the exam wasn't evaluating what he had seen in 5th grade, but what he should know by 6th. This meant that, for sure, he was going to fail that exam.
To prepare for the exam, I had to travel to Puerto Ordaz a week before to enter some leveling courses. They gave me so many topics in so few days that by the time I took the exam, I forgot everything.
Fortunately, in a matter of 10 minutes I was able to return to my body, and I avoided panicking, little by little I was responding to almost everything. There were things I couldn't remember and others I wasn't quite sure about. However, unexpectedly, they called me about two weeks later to inform me that I had passed the exam.
I am currently in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry courses, or what we call here the three Marias, since I will start to see them next year.
The doubt has arisen as to why I have to prepare so much for some subjects that I should learn about in high school. It is assumed that all the students who go to 9th year of high school have zero experience in Physics, for example. However, it seems that we are already expected to know many things to be able to pass the Physics that they will teach in that year. Time will tell and next year, around the month of June, I will tell you.
Most schools in Venezuela lack offices to support student, both for academic issues and for other types of assistance (stress management, time management, technological tools, etc.).
These preparatory courses are expensive and if a student cannot afford them, they are at a disadvantage in relation to those who can. I believe that the school should guarantee that all students will have the same opportunities and that the difference will be made by the individual abilities of each one or the effort and hours of study that they put in during the school year. Later I will tell you how much the courses I am taking during these vacations have helped me.
Speaking of vacations, this year I haven't had them. Once the school year starts, I'll be too busy with classes to think about distractions. And this is where the doubt arises as a young person: Could it be that all my energy is going to be invested in school pressure? Can an educational system train its students with what they need to advance in the next stages without generating this type of stress? Much is expected of us. We are expected to have a full and healthy life; that we participate in sports and recreation activities, and that we fulfill obligations in our homes; but how can one do all these things without the economic resources or without the free time?
Could it be that everywhere in the world is like this? Could it be that in some parts it is even worse?
I consider myself a good student and I want to learn everything I need to succeed in college, but sometimes I am plagued by the question of how physically and mentally healthy I will be when the time comes to go to college.

Hola, @annaky. Que interesante tu publicación. Pero, resulta que te tengo una buena noticia. Jeje! Los estudiantes egresados del colegio Loyola cuando llegan a la universidad están mejor preparados que el resto de los estudiantes de otros colegios y en conciencia se le hace más llevadero la etapa universitaria. Es decir, no vas a sufrir tanto con las asignaturas ya que tendrás un buen nivel académico y muchos de los temas los podrás digerir más fácilmente que el resto de tus compañeros universitarios. Incluso, puedes llagar a ser preparadora.
