Ways to be more creative in your everyday life

Creativity is not just something to be reserved for artists and poets. Everyone has a creative side. But I think creativity can be really elusive for people who feel like they’re stuck in a creative rut. A lot of us feel like the ideas they used to have, are now gone and it’s hard to find the sense of passion and curiosity we once had. Fortunately, there are many ways to be more creative in your everyday life.

1 . Seek Inspiration.

It's not always easy to come up with inspiration for a project. No fear, there are many places one can go for inspiration!

Places such as a book store could be great. Another is the library. Some people like to brainstorm with other people, so gather a group of your peers and run ideas around. A museum is a great place to get inspiration, grab a friend and a note pad and go. They often have exhibits that are good to inspire an idea.

You can also look to other creative people from the past such as Leonardo Da Vinci. Even if someone has never seen one of his paintings they are still impacted by his creativity. He was an ingenious artist, scientist, mathematician and inventor. His paintings have examples of perspective, anatomy, poetry and geometry. The background of Leonardo Da Vinci's painting the "Mona Lisa" is a good example of geometry because he used a grid. His artistic talents were incredible and he had many followers. Sometimes just looking at others who are creative can inspire more in you.

Inspiration is all around us for creativity, just have to look. Here're some places;

  • A museum
  • A park
  • The beach
  • A mountainside
  • A concert
  • A forest
  • A great bar or cafe
  • A shop
  • A library
  • A record store

2 . Stop Being Afraid to Fail.

The fear of failure is a debilitating fear everyone is familiar with. Once we have a fear of something, we focus on it much more than we focus on what we're doing; which in turn interrupts our performance.

All this is understandable, considering the many tasks that we are asked to complete on a daily basis. Failing a task can make us feel like we're not as capable as we thought we were. However, in order to succeed, you need to take risks. You need to fight fear and not give up when things get difficult.

The key to doing this is to work on your confidence. Confidence helps you keep going and gives you the motivation to continue when times get tough. The more times you succeed, the more confident you get. You'll realize that success isn't always about perfection but about trying and sometimes failing.

3 . Embrace Your Inner Child.

As adults, it may seem difficult to be creative but embracing your inner child can help you to be more creative. Sometimes when we start a new project, and we feel stuck... we need to take a step back and think of what it was like as a child when we went on an adventure.

  • When did you feel most alive?
  • When did you feel free?

Think about how your favorite childhood toy make you feel? Now take some time to play with that toy again, or something like it. Stop thinking and just enjoy yourself.

When we are younger, in the process of learning, we come to find many of our interests and hobbies that will last for the rest of our lives. The key is to embrace the part within us that is always exploring creativity. In school, when it's time for art or cooking or science or anything else, some kids are interested and others are not. And that's fine. But don't forget that every kid has something that they love to do--or would love to do, if they only knew about it. That's why it's important to put a range of different activities on your schedule, and not just focus on the ones you are likely to enjoy, but explore many types.

Conclusion

Find somewhere to be inspired, forget your fear of failure, embrace that inner child of yours and let your creativity flow.

When I am with my Harris's hawk.
Especially in the nature (even, when sitting in a park), when the weather is good (sunny and warm).

Harris's haw

YES! I live it... the park, nice weather, the sun, the clouds.. Hmmm YEA!

Very interesting to read! We all need to be motivate our daiy life by such simply actions ;) Thank you for sharing,

inspiration breeds more inspiration I think, so a little inspiration to start and then it's rock 'n' roll all the way. :)

This is great. One thing I want to do more of is art. I just never do it because I feel like I have zero imagination. I should start using the world around me more for inspiration instead of trying to dig it out of my mind. I tell my students this all the time but for some reason I can't do it myself.

is not the case though, is easy to tell the people what to do but it's hard to tell yourself to do that same thing. on the topic of imagination, it's all subjective... More about personal enjoyment that comes from being creative and less about what it is you're creating.
