Donated books to the local village school

in Education2 years ago (edited)

A month back I had written a post about purchasing books for donating to a local school. A relative of ours wanted to give books to the school library in which her late husband had studied.
Donating books to the school library

The delay in handing over the books was caused because of some unforeseen circumstances. A function was supposed to be held and some politicians were invited but they could not make it and we did not want the students to not be able to read the books that we had bought.

As a parent, I like to see children read and I am sure that the students who love reading books would find these books a good pastime. The books were bought after the teachers in charge had given us a list.

The price of books has gone up considerably. Nevertheless, we were able to buy most of the books and included a few that we liked too. I am also thinking of suggesting this idea of gifting books after consulting my eldest brother.

Today, the books were handed over to the headmaster of the school.

Let this be an inspiration to whoever reads this post. All over the world, children are now suffering because of various reasons.

Some children cannot afford gadgets to log in online. In some areas, the schools have started but some teachers refuse to have vaccination and are putting everyone near at risk. Meanwhile, the new variant has started spreading. Parents are overwhelmed and are finding it hard to make decisions regarding sending their children to school.

So, it is better to entertain the children, and what better means than gifting delightful stories for children.

While browsing through the shelves, I came across a book by Murakami. I did not have time to go through it but remembered Azircon, Amor, and Zakib discussing a book by this author.

Now I regret not having picked a copy for the children to read.

Speaking of books, why not try and create a Hive-based library?

Books can be downloaded and read for a fee and of course since it is not a real library, we cannot return it and hence the fee. We could have a hive library group where readers can have discussions about books, reading sessions, contests, and the like. I hope it is a good enough idea for someone to take up and implement it. It would be cool too because we have members from all over the world and young people would be encouraged to read books which is a rarity nowadays.

The smell of new books is another thing that I like besides playing splinterlands. Don't get me wrong but I do like new books and speaking of splinterlands, I hope we get to read a book on splinterlands.
The other day, I read a comment by a young player that anything more than three lines seemed an essay to him. So, how do you expect such young people to read a whole book without getting bored unless it is really good and he can connect to it?

I have also wondered how some small books with mostly jazzy pictures cost more than a whole set of books that contain more written content.

Perhaps the world has changed and I am new to it....
