Excellent post on an obscure but important aspect of the shutdown - thanks, reblogged! It was obvious from the very beginning that this was in one way or another coordinated from high levels far above so-called ‘independent’ nations, so not surprising bribes and payoffs were likely involved.
Reminds me of the similar large IMF payment to Ecuador conveniently occurring shortly before the Ecuadorian asylum of Julian Assange was revoked to get him into western imperial hands. The empire doesn’t have very many plays in their book, just keeps repeating the same ones over and over again under new circumstances...
