In our plight of Freedom - Spare a thought for West Papua

Australia - while we had freedom - we squandered it, and we ummed and arred over whether or not we should help this or that cause or even get on our feet and stop freedom limiting legislation as a creeping compromise to where we are now.

Now we are losing freedom, we are standing up to take it back again...

Yet there have been others, so close to us geographically that have suffered at the hands of Indonesia for over 60 years.

Three large gold mines exist in the Indonesian occupied West Papua province owned by Rockefeller interests. There are more Indonesian military than there are West Papuans of which Australia has taken an active role in training. It is a 15 year jail sentence to raise the West Papuan flag. There is a media blackout as no journalists or press are allowed to speak up. Over 500,000 West Papuans have been killed and tortured since the UN sanctioned 'Act of Free Choice' in 1969.

A process of ethnic cleansing has taken place and cultural take over with the Indonesian culture while Australian politicians choose not to get involved or actively avoid the issue as a matter of diplomacy and individual Australians remain largely unaware - deciding it is all a conspiracy theory that doesn't affect them as long as we have our freedom!

May we spare a thought for those that had less freedom than us that were within our reach when we had freedom. May we stop being ignorant to the atrocities around us that remain within our control.

Many high profile influencers, leaders and musicians have expressed support of the West Papuan plight including John Butler of the John Butler Trio - https://www.freewestpapua.org/message-of-support/john-butler/

Here is an amazing documentary created by good friends in Perth to help you understand the situation -
