have you had a chance to check out the new "foundation" television series ?

Yes! I have :-) To be honest though, it's been a disappointment up until now. I know they had to change some things as Aasimov's novels are not particularly character-driven, and decades or centuries go by between chapters. I believe they changed too much though. I have no problem with the gender-swaps, but I struggle to find a reason why they changed the events on Terminus so much, and I'm still undecided if I like the idea of "Empire" cloning themselves so that there's always a "Brother Dawn," "Brother Day" and "Brother Dusk"... Again: that's done to create some character-continuity to build drama around, but I don't know if that's the right way to go about it... I'll continue watching though, and will wait before giving a final verdict ;-)

i guess i'm lucky i haven't read any of it

on it's own, it really blows the mandalorian and expanse out of the water.
