I seen this challenge here and there on #hive blogging sphere but i think i missed the day one. Until yesterday when i seen the post from @hetty-rowan in Black Sheep Bloggers community. And it got me thinking about my road through "social" part of internet. Also yesterday, totally unreladed friend of mine, in an random conversation, mentioned his first internet chat experience on Krstarica (at the time Serbian biggest IRC community). So here is a shot story about my Nickname evolution or maybe devolution and meaning of @bil.prag or total randomnes of it.
My first contact with social aspect of the internet was in, i think, second year of high school on a dial up (at the time analog) internet and mIRC and ICQ. ICQ was interesting at the time but mIRC was totally different world. A friend of mine was deep in the mIRC, making scripts, even making his own "version" of mIRC. Chat rooms full of "weird" "nerds" talking about code, "hacking", and sharing stuff with people that after a time knew a lot more then about their acquaintances in RL except how they look and their identities. I was there a half nerd who understood how things work but was never into it enough to make shit on my own. It is kinda how i feel now here on Hive and Crypto in general, i am here, i am into it, but far from understanding all the things that are going on. I even "hacked" few computer in those days. I mean it was not that hard, you had a program that scanned ip address range of computers that are online and you clicked through it to see who had Share hard drive opened. I think it even cracked easy passwords relatively quickly. But it was boring as it was dial up internet and everything was slow slow slow. And in all of that i was creative enough to use my name in my nickname on mIRC, and it was MarkoMG.
After a while IRC became a bit mainstream (as mainstream it could be, because even computers were really not mainstream at that time here) and started to be boring. And at that time i discovered a new social part of internet and that were forums. I found, at the time for me, really interesting Serbian/Yugoslavian community on a forum called MyCity. It was everything goes forum, but with really good topic separation and great mods. They also had a "we will help you get rid of your malware" part of it. There was a guy, Bobby, that knew shit tone about it, so i joined the academy to learn how to deal with malware and help people get rid of it. Essentially we used HijackThis so people give us Scan Logs then searched what should not be there and how to get rid of it.
And i just found out that the forum is still out there and spent 40 minutes clicking through it...
My nickname there was Everybody's fool. Can anyone guess where the inspiration came from?
Next the friend from the start of this story got me interested in in 3D animation. At the time i was in collage studding economy (accounting and finance) and we lived in different towns, but in one visit he showed me Light Wave and i was hooked. I also spread the virus on my friend that i was spending a lot of time at that moment. We also played a lot of Heroes of Might and Magic and the joke was that i was evil, so evil started to be my name in the game. We also had a story that we wanted to make in 3d and first thing you need is of course a name. So it was logic that the name should be Evil Technology. And that was time when we finally got ADSL with incredible 256kb/s and youtube was in existance. So my youtube name was eviltechnology.

If you are still here, this is the final part of the story. And we move a good amount of years ahead. Facebook was up end running for years, instagram started to be a thing. As i wanted to register to instagram but for some strange reason did not want to connect it with my FB profile i had to chose a Username. As eviltechnology was not available, Marko was also not available. And instagram was giving me all that great suggestions of Marko531, Eviltechnology54502702 and i did not want to have stupid number after my name. After some time of trying different things and a lot of frustration with it i remembered something. I am a big fan of Terry Pratchett and i just finished his book Reaper Man where Death quit his job, and went to live with people. And It had the same problem as i did, it needed a name. And it's solution was simple, Bill as a common name, and Door as the first thing that is saw. Ok the second thing, Sky was not accepted by the old lady that wanted to hire it. So @bil.prag is actually the Serbian translation of of Death's name in Reaper Man. So @r0nd0n joking around about me being an assassin is kinda a bit funny.

Teri je sjajan a njegove knjige uopste nisu decije kao sto mnogi tvrde :)
Sa sadrzajem posta mogu da se identifikujem :) bas pre dva dana sam inostranom prijatelju objasnjavala kako je izgledalo IRCovanje kod nas, bleja po racunskim centrima ETFa i igranje MUDa a najsladje se smejem kako je izgledalo pretrazivanje Interneta pre grafike :D
Teri je odlican, i mislim da vrlo dobro utice na razvoj zanimljivog smisla za humor :D
ja sam do pristupa internetu stigao kad je vec bilo grafike, tako da taj "nenormalni" dozivljaj nisam zahvatio.
Od tih zanimljivosti koje sam preskocio, jedna od boljih mi je "piraterija" na 202-ci. gde su imali emisiju koja je pustala igre i programe live a ti si ih snimao na kasetu kuci :)
Hahaha jao da, ti momenti dok cekas u niskom startu da pritisnes record a onda na kraju ulete reklame :D I piraterija ispred SKCa, najnoviji album XY na kaseti sa crno belim printnom covera albuma :)
