Every day the indiscriminate behavior of man towards nature causes the loss of important resources and in many cases they cannot be recovered, affecting the biodervisity that exists on the planet. Currently, trees in the wild are facing extinction all over the world.
According to the conclusions of a recent report by Botanic Gardens Conservation International (BGCI), between one-third and one-half of the world's tree species could disappear. These endangered species range from oak to tropical trees.

Notably, the report shows that of the 60,000 thousand species on the planet, more than 17,000 thousand species are endangered. Conservation groups are making great efforts to protect against deforestation, logging and climate change.
A healthy planet needs a great diversity of tree species, as each tree species plays a unique role, therefore it is urgent to implement conservation actions before it is too late.

THREATENED SPECIES:
It should be noted that the greatest threats to trees come from agriculture, logging, urban and commercial development, fires, cattle ranching. As well as energy production and mining, invasive species, timber and pulp plantations and climate change.
It should be noted that the most biodiverse countries on the planet, such as Brazil, Colombia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Venezuela and China, are where the most endangered tree species are found.

The main trees at risk of extinction are:
- Tropical trees known as dipterocarpus that are becoming extinct due to the expansion of palm oil plantations.
- Oaks due to agriculture and development without measuring consequences.
- Ebony and rosewood, so important for timber in Madagascar.
- Magnolia trees threatened by uncontrolled harvesting of plants.
- Trees like ash dying from pests and diseases in North America.
SOLUTIONS:
Many of the species that once inhabited the planet have disappeared from the wild. The negative impacts of climate change, extreme weather and rising sea levels are increasing threats to trees. But with conservation action, there is hope for the future.

Conservation action gives a range of actions, including:
- Preserving existing forests and expanding protected areas (currently, there is a high percentage of these tree species can be found in at least one protected area).
- Conserving threatened species in botanical gardens or seed banks (currently, about 30% of all trees are supported in this way).
- Provide an education of reforestation and tree planting plans, with the right tree placement in the right place, where all rare and threatened species are included.
