What's Up! Sustainable Curation From the ecoTrain Community on Hive #28

in ecoTrain3 years ago

WhatsUp everyone! I hope you are well and doing something nice this weekend. It has been another abundant week for the ecoTrain community with many great posts on just the topics that we like to see! This week I am including @orlev's post about Lemuria and the Nacaals! This is a part of his ongoing series of radio shows that covers a wide range of very interesting topics and well worth a listen! You can find that at the end of this curation. We also have some great gardening posts and tips.. Its always good to see so many of you experimenting and trying out new ideas. If you are into gardening do check them out!
There’s some other golden nuggets too, so grab that cuppa and enjoy!

Remember, your posts will live forever on the blockchain to inspire and help us all. If you do post regularly and receive good up-votes please consider sending a bit of delegation to @ecoTrain! We can barely keep up with the curating and really appreciate your support, which comes right back at you 100 fold!

@ecoTrain is collaborating with the OCD community support initiative

If you didn't know, OCD are partnering with communities on Hive to help to decentralise our communities and reward posts in niche communities that don't have many up-votes or support. This is a very special initiative and shows how Hive and the decentralised model is so very different to centralised capitalism. A normal capitalist attitude would consider having one popular community, and holding a huge amount of VP to be a great success.. but on Hive it is not what we want, and it is VERY good to see our witnesses such as @acidyo doing what they can to keep things decentralised. Click here for more info.

@ecotrain is a global Hive community gathered around the concept of natural giving, living in harmony with nature and making our world a better place. Changing the world starts with changing ourselves and the way we live, love, work and create together as communities .

We deliberately and consciously curate those posts, blogs & vlogs which speak to the issues, challenges and needs of community living and the emerging Hive ecoVillage communities around the world.

Here are some of the topics we support and curate on:
"Sustainability, ecoVillages, Community, Self-sufficiency, Off-grid Living, Homesteading, Permaculture, Alternative Energy, Alternative Lifestyle, Natural Health, Cooking, Eco-Building, Earthships, Recycling, Esoteric, Inner Transformation, Spiritual, Nature"

Have a beautiful weekend!

Half The Garden Winterized and NaNoWriMo Swag - Wednesday

Slowly but surely I am managing to get the garden winterized. Yesterday after it warmed up nicely I got back to pulling mank and mushy plants. The kale had gotten to be up to 4 feet tall and the bugs had gone full colonization on them. I only got half of them pulled and the wheelbarrow was SUPER touchy trying to wheel it across the farm. I managed to get it to the sheep pen without dumping it all over. After tossing it in the pen the sheep jumped on it instantly. I swear they are woolly pigs the way they attack food.

ECOSIA: Plant trees while you search the web

I think I will start testing it from today, I found it very interesting I was looking for a little information and according to what I found it said that we can also help in the fight to protect the environment through a browser, How great, right?

Probably some of you had already heard it before but I had no idea, it was created in 2009, what have I been doing with my life that I had not heard about this before?

The search engine has a clear goal to donate 80% of its advertising revenue to tree planting programs, its initiative is to plant one billion trees in 20

A wonderful method of sowing vegetable seeds.....

Hello, all Eco lovers of the world. Hope all is well. I am also fine. For the current epidemic, I have been sitting at home for a long time and spending lazy time. So to cut down on laziness, I sometimes cultivate vegetables or take care of them. It spends such time on one side. On the other hand, we can get fresh vegetables for food.
Anyway back to the original context.Today I will share with you a new method of sowing vegetables. I do not know if it is new to you? However, this method is completely new to me.

Recycling Tip - People Foolishly Toss Loaded Gift Cards

Always check balances on prepaid cards you come across.

For example, here are $50.01 worth of groceries from a local overpriced supermarket I bought using an unused gift card. I found it prominently displayed in a clear bag of paper recyclables on the curb. Easy street.

I shopped by eye with no calculator and the store manager gave me the penny so I could say that all of this was free.

The food didn't last long, but it feels good to find free money and get free stuff that would've been wasted otherwise.

FREEEEEEEE!!!!!

More Grain, Snowblower, Trees, Writing - Friday

First thing in the morning I loaded up the barrels and headed to town again. This time I only had 2 1/2 barrels of grain to get, but it required a 4th empty so they stayed on the trailer better. The way I strap them down to the trailer needs an even number of barrels. You can see the wood I use on top to keep them tightened down, that doesn't work on just a single barrel so needs the even numbers.

My new gate from the prior day's build worked perfect. As I opened it it closed off the opening in the fence to their main pen. I had more than enough room to back in and dump the grain.

India is waking up

Yesterday at many cities in India there was a peaceful gathering organized by many social activist in protest of mandatory vaccines, 5G, microchipping and all the other current issues. This was a gathering organized to create awareness in people.

In Mumbai my Son and some of his other colleagues organized it and was quite a successful one. I was too much worried for him since last few days. Whenever he organizes such events I am quite tensed up but then he is doing something for the society so courageously and I am proud of him. They had done one on 2nd Oct and then the second one yesterday on 1st Nov. This time when he told me about this gathering I was little annoyed with him first. I did not want him to do it. You never know how the state would react to such gatherings and after all he is still very young so it does bother me. But then he was adamant and told me that I need to be strong with all of this and support.

THERES STILL TIME TO JOIN US FOR THE LATEST QUESTION OF THE WEEK

QUESTION OF THE WEEK #25: In what ways is living off grid the answer to the many consequences of coronavirus?

Welcome back to the QOTW! This week we delve into a very relevant theme and a question well worth asking! These are times of unpredictable and often sudden changes in our rights and freedom, huge economic instability, and a totalitarian planet unfolding before our eyes. Right this very moment thousands of people are packing their bags and leaving the cities, headed to more rural areas and countries. They have decided enough is enough and are willing to take a brave leap into the unknown.. to make a new life in a way that they can have their basic human needs and rights fulfilled and protected. There are so many ways in which living off grid and self sufficiently can empower you and protect you and your family.
