What do we fear and why do we fear? Well that's a loaded question!!!

This is kind of a difficult question to answer, but I think for most once you start writing you’ll find what to say… I guess that’s what I’m going through, though I have a lot of ideas in mind about that. Having gone down the anarchist rabbit hole a few times, my views will tend to lean towards FEAR having been used as a controlling tool by most of the human management systems (government) this planet has seen.

That being said, I feel as though fear is natural. Evolution must have made it to be some sort of defense mechanism. Imagine living in some natural dwelling, that’s pretty exposed to the rest of the world. If you heard the roar of a sabretooth tiger or some other predator, that fear would probably make you pick up your weapons. And I’m not talking about in today’s world, where most people caught in a tent in the woods would probably just freeze in place if they heard unfamiliar animal sounds in close proximity.

We might have been passed down certain fears of unknown foods, also for survival. Only eat those foods we know won’t kill us… and all that info probably got passed down into our DNA. And probably all sorts of information is passed down through our DNA, mostly for survival I would suspect…

So, what I’m saying is that FEAR was in the beginning a tool for survival. As we developed our societies, learned to grow food which had to be protected, and we grew larger. It only makes sense that someone out there figured out that if we can create fear around our food storage, in theory our neighbors who grow tired of hunting and gathering would stay away from said stores. I believe this is where a lot of the world’s problems all started, at the dawn of AGGRICULTURE.

You can see it right? First, we domesticate plants and animals, it eliminates the need to hunt and gather for all our foods. Then, we have to find a way to store these foods, but that brings on the problems of security (think building military). And the war games now start over more than just territory…

One can create the illusion of FEAR to protect something, you don’t necessarily have military troops in place to make someone believe they should be scared to approach what you’re keeping safe. Once that was figured out, the technology of using fear for manipulation continued evolving to this day. So, we’re talking about a technology that is roughly 13000 in the making, talk about a track record!!! They’ve had plenty of time to fine tune that game.

There are lots of writings that explain how fear is used to control people, both in history and in psychology. There are those who enjoy the feeling of fear... I do not, unless in triggers my survival instinct. Mostly, fear is well known to drive ones mind into real darkness.

I once made up an entire scenario in my head where my two friend and I were going to be left for dead, on a boulder, unclothed, and raped in the middle on some rapids between Mexico and Guatemala. I froze and turned a pale green, my friends told me. It was all just a misunderstanding, but my head went to the darkest place I could find in that moment… Our drunken boat captain brought us back to shore untouched!!! Once I knew we were safe again, the rest of the day felt like I had taken a handful of magic mushrooms. Crazy what fear can do!!!

I personally think fear is a bit like worry… you live through the worst of something whilel nothin’s happened, if something does happen, you have to relive the horrors for a second time and that just sucks.

If you’re interested in reading more about government manipulation and control, have a look at the works of Étienne de La Boétie. For now, I must say thank you to the ecoTrain team for putting up some awesome questions all the time, you ROCK!
