in ecoTrain4 years ago

Out of all the lessor known festival, Vishwakarma puja is one of the ocassion which never get into "A" list of Indian festival. However many people celebrate the ocassion with utmost joyous mood. Vishwakarma is one of the Hindu god and considered to be the divine architect.

Vishwakarma Jayanti is being celebrated today (16.09.2020). It marks the birth of Hindu God Vishwakarma, the Devshilpi, or 'architect of the gods'.

The festival is celebrated primarily in Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Assam, Jharkhand, Bihar, Tripura, and Odisha

You may call it as a scientist or an engineer in hindu mythology who was responsible to build and developed "state of the art" weapons and holy cities. He is considered as swayambhu and creator of the world, heavens and many other thing. It is considered he constructed the holy city of Dwarka, the Maya Sabha of the Pandavas, and many other weapons including the "vajra" of Indra dev.

How do we celebrate.

Aa it is related with the god of architect, we make sure to worship anything with electrical or mechanical machine. I remember, during childhood we use to visit the nearby factories & plants to attend and take the blessing g, but now we shrink the ocassion within the four walls and make all the arrangement there.

On this day, we clean every equipment, motor vehicle and decorate with garlands and at the end , we offers sweets as Prasadam and take the blessing. Here are few glimpses from the todays festival.

A rare glimpse inside the deep indian culture. Today all the office, factories and major machinery establishment remain shut. The labour and worker enjoy the ocassion, decorate the premises and wish to get their equipment up and running through the year.

The magic of this festival can not be seen in major cities, but smaller town and cities were the roots are still stick to the ood tradition, the day is very important for all of them.

Indian Culture & Tradition have many untold stories.

Peace
