ORMANYA - Alone With Nature ~ Doğayla Baş Başa

Welcome to Ormanya Nature Park. This place was established by Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality. This huge area is so big that you have to set aside a whole day to visit the whole area. I didn't do that. After visiting a few places during the day, I wanted to spend the rest of my time here. At the suggestion of my sister, I did not neglect to visit this nature park. I wish I had stopped by this natural wonder park in the early hours of the morning. Before I finished half of this area, it was getting dark and I had to leave the nature park. Anyways. Ormanya includes dozens of activity areas built into a huge forest.

Ormanya Tabiat Parkı'na hoş geldiniz. Burası Kocaeli Büyükşehir Belediyesi tarafından kurulmuştur. Bu devasa alan o kadar büyük ki alanın tamamını gezmek için bütün gününüzü ayırmanız gerekiyor. Ben öyle yapmadım. Gün içinde gezdiğim birkaç yerden sonra kalan zamanımı burada geçirmek istedim. Kız kardeşimin önerisiyle bu tabiat parkını da gezmeyi ihmal etmedim. Keşke bu doğa harikası parka sabahın ilk saatlerinde uğramış olsaydım. Ben daha bu alanın yarısını bitirmeden hava kararmaya başlamıştı ve ben tabiat parkından ayrılmak zorunda kalmıştım. Neyse. Ormanya, devasa bir ormanın içine kurulmuş onlarca etkinlik alanını içinde barındırıyor.

As you can see from the information map above, there are large activity areas inside the huge area. Ormanya Nature Park; It consists of activity areas such as camping area, picnic area, wildlife rescue and rehabilitation center, exhibition hall, children's zoo, wildlife area, Ormanköy, bird watching area, nature school, sportive angling and agricultural area. In addition, there are restaurants where you can eat delicious meals and kilometers of dirt roads where you can do sports activities such as walking and jogging.

Yukarıdaki bilgilendirme haritasından da gördüğünüz gibi devasa alanın içinde büyük etkinlik alanları bulunuyor. Ormanya Tabiat Parkı; kamp alanı, mesire(piknik) alanı, yaban hayatı kurtarma ve rehabilitasyon merkezi, sergi salonu, çocuk hayvanat bahçesi, yaban yaşam alanı, ormanköy, kuş gözlem alanı, doğa okulu, sportif olta balıkçılığı ve tarım alanı gibi etkinlik alanlarından oluşuyor. Ayrıca Ormanya'da lezzetli yemekler yiyebileceğiniz restoranlar ile yürüyüş ve koşu gibi spor aktiviteleri yapabileceğiniz kilometrelerce toprak yollar da bulunuyor.

My first stop was the Botanical Road. There are dozens of plant species here, although most of them look familiar. Still, I enjoyed seeing all these beauties together. I learned the names of some plants whose names I did not know.

Benim ilk durağım Botanik Yol oldu. Burada çoğu tanıdık gelse de onlarca çeşit bitki türü bulunuyor. Yine de bu güzelliklerin hepsini bir arada görmek hoşuma gitti. Adını bilmediğim bazı bitkilerin adını öğrenmiş oldum.

I especially support such activity areas in order to raise the awareness of plants and forests in children. Children both see all the plants together and have the opportunity to get to know the plants better. Thus, they can act more sensitively towards these creatures that help us to breathe and to our future.

Özellikle çocuklara bitki ve orman bilincini kazandırmak için bu tür etkinlik alanlarını destekliyorum. Çocuklar hem tüm bitkileri bir arada görürler hem de bitkileri daha yakından tanıma fırsatı bulurlar. Böylece nefes almamıza yardımcı olan bu canlılara ve geleceğimize karşı daha duyarlı davranabilirler.

They built artificial nests for bats in Ormanya. I think they were doing this to protect the bats and to expand their natural habitat. According to the information sign below, there are 39 kinds of bats living in Turkey. I didn't know that bats are such an important species for getting rid of harmful insects and especially for the ecosystem until I stopped by here. According to the sign, they can consume more than 5000 insects per day during their approximately 30-year lifespan. They also play a major role in transporting pollen for the reproduction of plants. They leave their environment due to environmental pollution. I mean, I'm glad that bats exist and I hope our environment and nature will not be polluted any more and bats will not abandon us.

Ormanya'da yarasalar için yapay yuvalar yapmışlardı. Sanırım yarasaları korumak için ve doğal yaşam alanlarını genişletmek için bunu yapıyorlardı. Aşağıdaki bilgilendirme tabelasına göre Türkiye'de 39 çeşit yarasa türü yaşıyormuş. Buraya uğrayana kadar yarasaların zararlı böceklerden kurtulmak için ve özellikle ekosistem için bu kadar önemli bir canlı türü olduğunu bilmiyordum. Tabelaya göre yaklaşık 30 yıllık ömürleri boyunca günde 5000'den fazla böcek tüketebilirler. Ayrıca bitkilerin üremesi için polen taşınmasında da önemli bir rol oynarlar. Çevre kirliliği nedeniyle çevrelerini terk ederler. Yani yarasaların varlığına sevindim, umarım çevremiz ve doğamız daha fazla kirlenmez ve yarasalar bizi terk etmez.

There was a zoo for children here. I didn't go inside. As I said, my time was limited and there were areas that I was more curious about. Still, the entrance gate was beautiful. If you have children with you when you are in Kocaeli, you should definitely stop by here. I'm sure there is some pretty good information out there for educating kids. :)

Burada çocuklar için hayvanat bahçesi bulunuyordu. İçeriye girmedim. Dediğim gibi zamanım kısıtlıydı ve daha fazla merak ettiğim alanlar bulunuyordu. Yine de giriş kapısı güzeldi. Kocaeli'deyken yanınızda çocuklarınız varsa mutlaka buraya uğramalısınız. Çocukları eğitmek için burada oldukça iyi bilgiler olduğuna eminim. :)

I like this place. The Pelican Island caught my attention a lot. There were two types of pelicans here. Crested pelicans and white pelicans. I did not see the crested pelicans and did not have the opportunity to photograph them.

İşte burayı sevdim. Pelikan adası, ilgimi oldukça fazla çekti. Burada iki tür pelikan bulunuyordu. Tepeli pelikanlar ve ak pelikanlar. Tepeli pelikanları görmedim ve fotoğrafını çekme fırsatım olmadı.

White pelicans... I find these waterfowl very charismatic. They look very large and predatory. According to the information sign, they can grow up to 180 centimeters in length and live an average of 25 years. Don't you think they look very nice?

Ak pelikanlar... Bu su kuşlarını çok karizmatik buluyorum. Çok büyük ve yırtıcı görünüyorlar. Bilgilendirme tabelasına göre boyları 180 santimetreye kadar uzayabiliyor ve ortalama 25 yıl yaşayabiliyorlar. Sizce de çok güzel görünmüyorlar mı?
