Buenos días mis bellas Damas de Hive, y todos mis queridos #Hivers. Ésta es mi presentación en el Concurso # 59 de esta hermosa comunidad.

La navidad es mi época favorita del año, por eso no me canso de escribir acerca de todo lo que me gusta de ella, desde sus más lindas tradiciones hasta la magia que irradia. Para mí la navidad representa una época de paz, amor y unión; tiempo de perdonar, reflexionar y darnos nuevas oportunidades para seguir adelante por los senderos de luz que nos brinda nuestro Niño Dios.

Es esta oportunidad voy a responder a dos preguntas muy significativas que me hacen acerca de mis tradiciones navideñas. Muchas gracias a mi hermosa amiga @nellyhope por esta invitación, y me encantaría invitar a @chacald.dcymt y @tere.alv a relatarnos acerca de sus tradiciones navideñas.

1. Las fiestas tienen que ver con la tradición. ¿Cuál es su tradición navideña familiar más preciada? Cuéntanos sobre esto, cómo surgió y por qué es especial para ti.

Mi tradición navideña más preciada siempre ha sido ver a mi familia reunida en la casa compartiendo la elaboración de las hallacas, siento que este momento tan especial une más a la familia venezolana, desde los más pequeños hasta los más viejitos.

La hallaca es uno de los platos típicos de la navidad en Venezuela, nunca falta en la cena navideña y la de año nuevo, incluso, forma parte de las comidas de cada día durante todo el mes de diciembre. Entre los ingredientes de las hallacas está la harina de maíz, las hojas de plátano o cambur, el guiso en base a cochino, carne de res y aliños, pasas, aceitunas, alcaparras, cebolla, pimentón, papas sancochadas, entre otros. La elaboración de las hallacas es todo un ritual, tiene pasos muy detallados y cada región de Venezuela tiene sus secretos y toques especiales que le dan un sabor único e inigualable.

En mi casa, desde que era muy pequeña, se acostumbraba elaborar las hallacas días antes del 24 de diciembre y todos teníamos una tarea, los mayores hacían el guiso y armaban las hallacas, y los más chicos limpiábamos las hojas de plátano, picábamos aliños, nos dejaban las cosas más fáciles pero poco a poco cada año viendo el proceso, fuimos aprendiendo el hermoso arte de hacer hallacas.

Con el tiempo fui perfeccionando algunos tips para hacer mis propias hallacas tomando un poco de cada una de las que probaba, de las amistades, la familia, mis hermanos que viven en el estado Táchira y sus hallacas tienen un toque diferente al nuestro pero igualmente son sabrosas, y luego la familia de mi esposo; mi suegra elaboraba unas hallacas mirandinas deliciosas. Ya estaba preparada para hacer mis primeras hallacas dentro del hogar que había conformado, donde ahora serían mis hijos pequeños quienes nos ayudarían a hacerlas, y así poco a poco con el tiempo se fueron integrando más colaboradores, las parejas de mis hijos, los amigos, los vecinos, y cada momento de elaborar las hallacas era mágico.

Una anécdota muy particular que se repite todos los años al momento de elaborar el guiso de las hallacas, es que antes de formarlas, todo el mundo lo prueba con casabe húmedo o seco. El casabe es una torta elaborada por los indígenas venezolanos con yuca molida y que es parte de las comidas típicas de la región llanera. Nunca he podido elaborar unas hallacas sin que el guiso pase por varios platos ese día. Y uno de mis tips especiales es que el guiso lo elaboro en leña y las hallacas también se sancochan en esa brasa, el resultado es increíble.

2. Tantos adornos brillantes (y tal vez algunos no tan brillantes). Muéstranos tu adorno navideño más preciado y cuéntanos la historia detrás de él.

A pesar de que en mi tierra el adorno más significativo es el pesebre, y que yo no dejo de colocarlo ningún año, mi adorno más preciado es el árbol de navidad. Desde pequeña se acostumbraba a colocar el árbol el primer día del mes de diciembre y poco a poco hasta la nochebuena iban llegando regalos de todos lados para todos los miembros de la familia. Era emocionante ver cómo se iba llenando el pie del árbol de cajas y bolsas adornadas con hermosos lazos.

Después que nacieron mis hijos, yo continué la tradición en mi hogar. Nuestro primer árbol de navidad era pequeño y cada año lo iba decorando con algunas cositas, le ponía luces de colores y lo ponía en un rincón de mi pequeña sala. Cuando mis niños ya estaban grandecitos, quisieron un árbol más grande y su papá les llegó una navidad con esa sorpresa, pero no logramos cubrirlo por completo porque no alcanzó el dinero para comprar tantos adornos, sólo las luces y cositas que tenía del arbolito anterior, más algunas que compramos ese año. Desde ese momento me llenó de emoción la decoración de mi Árbol de Navidad, y cada año fui reuniendo adornos e inventando decoraciones. La que más me gustó fue cuando lo llené de muñequitos que venían en la Cajita Feliz de Mc Donald’s, parecía un arbolito de juguetería.

Una anécdota con el árbol de navidad fue cuando mi nietecita lo decoró por primera vez, tenía 2 añitos y para nuestra sorpresa no quiso colocarle muñecos al árbol sino pelotitas. El problema vino cuando se nos acabaron las pelotitas y ella pedía más, lo que se nos ocurrió fue quitar algunas sin que ella se diera cuenta y dárselas para que las volviera a colocar, hasta que por fin quedó agotada y ya no quiso decorar más. Su emoción cada navidad que pasaba en la casa era formar parte de la decoración del árbol junto con su papá y el resto de la familia, ahora ella misma decora el de ella junto a su hermanito y sus padres en su casa de Perú, que es donde viven ahora.

Aunque toda la familia no está en Venezuela, decorar el árbol de navidad es una tradición que nunca se deja de hacer en mi hogar porque él es parte de la magia de esta época. Siempre que salgo a hacer compras o a pasear por la ciudad en estos días se me llena el alma de magia cuando veo los inmensos árboles de navidad decorados en los centros comerciales, sin duda la navidad es la época que nos ilumina los corazones.

Good morning my beautiful Ladies of Hive, and all my dear #Hivers. This is my presentation in Contest # 59 of this beautiful community.

Christmas is my favorite time of the year, that's why I never tire of writing about everything I like about it, from its most beautiful traditions to the magic that it radiates. For me, Christmas represents a time of peace, love and union; time to forgive, reflect and give ourselves new opportunities to continue on the paths of light that our Child God offers us.

In this opportunity I am going to answer two very significant questions that I am asked about my Christmas traditions. Many thanks to my beautiful friend @nellyhope for this invitation, and I would love to invite @chacald.dcymt and @tere.alv to tell us about their Christmas traditions.

1. The holidays have to do with tradition. What is your most treasured family Christmas tradition? Tell us about it, how it came about and why it is special to you.

My most precious Christmas tradition has always been to see my family reunited at home sharing the elaboration of the Hallecas, I feel that this special moment brings the Venezuelan family closer together, from the youngest to the oldest.

The Hallaca is one of the typical dishes of Christmas in Venezuela, it is never missing in the Christmas dinner and the New Year's dinner is even part of the meals of each day throughout the month of December. Among the ingredients of the Hallacas are corn flour, banana or banana leaves, stew based on pork, beef and dressings, raisins, olives, capers, onion, paprika, boiled potatoes, among others. The elaboration of the Hallacas is quite a ritual, it has very detailed steps and each region of Venezuela has its secrets and special touches that give it a unique and incomparable flavor.

In my house, since I was very little, it was customary to make the Hallecas days before December 24th and we all had a task, the older ones made the stew and made the Hallas, and the younger ones cleaned the banana leaves, picked dressings, They made things easier for us but little by little each year watching the process, we were learning the beautiful art of making Hallacas.

Over time I perfected some tips to make my own Hallas taking a bit of each one I tried, friends, family, my brothers who live in the state of Táchira and their Hallas have a different touch from ours but they are also tasty, and then my husband's family; my mother-in-law made some delicious mirandine Hallecas. I was already ready to make my first finds within the home that I had formed, where now my young children would be the ones who would help us to make them, and so little by little more collaborators, my children's partners, friends, were integrated over time. the neighbors, and every moment of making the Hallas was magical.

A very particular anecdote that is repeated every year when preparing the Hallacas stew is that before forming them, everyone tries it with wet or dry cassava. Casabe is a cake made by the indigenous Venezuelans with ground yucca and is part of the typical meals of the llanera region. I have never been able to prepare a Hallacas without the stew going through several dishes that day. And one of my special tips is that I make the stew on firewood and the Hallas are also boiled on that ember, the result is incredible.

2. So many shiny ornaments (and maybe some not so shiny). Show us your most precious Christmas ornament and tell us the story behind it.

Despite the fact that in my land the most significant ornament is the manger, and that I do not stop placing it every year, my most precious ornament is the Christmas tree. Since I was little, it was customary to place the tree on the first day of December and little by little until Christmas Eve gifts were arriving from everywhere for all members of the family. It was exciting to see the bottom of the tree filling with boxes and bags adorned with beautiful bows.

After my children were born, I continued the tradition in my home. Our first Christmas tree was small and every year I would decorate it with some little things, put colored lights on it and put it in a corner of my little living room. When my children were already grown up, they wanted a bigger tree and their father came to them one Christmas with that surprise, but we could not cover it completely because he did not have the money to buy so many ornaments, only the lights and things he had from the previous tree, plus some that we bought that year. From that moment, the decoration of my Christmas tree filled me with emotion, and every year I was gathering ornaments and inventing decorations. The one I liked the most was when I filled it with dolls that came in the Mc Donald’s Happy Meal, it looked like a little toy tree.

An anecdote with the Christmas tree was when my granddaughter decorated it for the first time, she was 2 years old and to our surprise she did not want to put dolls on the tree but balls. The problem came when we ran out of balls and she asked for more, what occurred to us was to remove some without her noticing and give them to her to put them back, until finally she was exhausted and did not want to decorate anymore. Her emotion every Christmas that happened in the house was to be part of the decoration of the tree together with her father and the rest of the family, now she decorates hers with her little brother and her parents at her house in Peru, which is where they live now.

Although the whole family is not in Venezuela, decorating the Christmas tree is a tradition that is never stopped in my home because it is part of the magic of this time. Whenever I go shopping or walking around the city these days my soul fills with magic when I see the huge Christmas trees decorated in the shopping centers, without a doubt Christmas is the time that lights our hearts.
