Cuando era niña, oía con frecuencia: "No puedes ser una “Veterinaria” porque eres una chica.
En los primeros años de mi vida vivía con mis padres y hermanas en una hacienda llamada San Luis, había muchos animales, y ganado vacuno, mi papá estaba de encargado y de inseminador en la hacienda. Al lado de nuestra casa vivía mi tío por parte de padre que trabajaba como obrero, con su esposa y mis primos.

Un día mi prima ve a mi papá vacunando unas cuantas vacas y ella le dice que cuando sea grande quería ser veterinaria. Mi padre de inmediato se exalto y de dijo que ella no podía ser veterinaria porque eso era solo para hombres, porque él las mujeres que conocía que llegaban allí a la hacienda Y eran veterinarias eran homosexuales. Yo estaba muy pequeña y no entendía mucho la situación y ahora se me avivan los recuerdos con la pregunta que realizaron en este concurso que respondo a continuación.
¿Cuándo empezó a ver que las actitudes hacia las mujeres cambiaban en su vida, y qué cree que impulsó esos cambios?
Siguiendo el hilo un poco de lo anterior, mi familia siempre vivió en haciendas, haciendo trabajo fuerte de obreros y no era común ver a mujeres ordeñando o amansando el ganado, (nosotras nos escapábamos para aprender a ordeñar). Era muy mal visto ver a una hija del encargado (mi papá) montada en un caballo arriando las vacas. De inmediato se formaba el zaperoco porque eso solo lo podían hacer los obreros de la finca ¡cómo van a andar esas mujeres montada a caballo lidiando las vacas Beleño! (constantemente le decían a mi papá cuando mis hermanas y mis primas montaban a caballo).
En los últimos tiempos la mujer se ha visto en la obligación más que en la igualdad de derecho con el hombre, a abordar prácticas laborales iguales al hombre a causa de “la necesidad”, conjuntamente con el “despertar feminista” que se ha abanderado en muchos países.

Podemos pasar un largo tiempo discutiendo algo muy sencillo como lo son “las capacidades” que puede tener una mujer para realizar cualquier tarea. Nos hemos avocado en ser más independientes en cuando la preparación académica y laboral. Estamos tomando las riendas de tareas importantísimas a nivel político mundial, de administración de un país, que es si se quiere es la escala de responsabilidad más fuerte que puede llegar una persona, las mujeres estamos dando el frente porque ¿Cuántas mujeres han llegado a ser presidentas de un país los últimos años?, ¿Cuántas han llegado a ser primeras ministras? ¿Cuántas han comandado batallones y tropas militares? ¡Mucha verdad!, es aquí donde vemos que el papel de la mujer es tan importante como lo ha sido para el hombre.

Ya nos hemos quitado la venda de los ojos y con mucho respeto hacia el hombre, tenemos igual o más que dar para continuar forjando un país, porque un país no se forja solamente desde un fregadero de platos, detrás de un cepillo o lustrando pisos, como había pasado por años, un futuro se forja trabajando juntos respetando y tratándonos a todos por igual.
No podemos entrar en desconocimiento que también hay países, que aún no permiten ni siquiera la educación para la mujer, forma de vestir…..es lamentable como muchas mujeres deben de pasar por maltratos tan solo por pensar y querer hacer cosas diferentes.
Y esto no es todo ahora es que tenemos la fuerza y las gana de seguir experimentando nuevos campos en los que la mujer será de mucha ayuda para el desarrollo y preservación del planeta.
Debemos recordar, “que la vida es una sola, y se necesita del hombre y la mujer para dar vida”.
Bueno mis amigas, espero no haber incomodado a nadie con mis palabras, y de haberlo hecho mil disculpas.

When I was a child, I often heard, "You can't be a "Vet" because you're a girl.
In the early years of my life I lived with my parents and sisters on a ranch called San Luis, there were many animals, and cattle, my dad was in charge and inseminator on the ranch. Next to our house lived my uncle on my father's side who worked as a laborer, with his wife and my cousins.

One day my cousin sees my dad vaccinating a few cows and she tells him that when she grows up she wants to be a veterinarian. My father immediately got excited and told her that she couldn't be a veterinarian because that was only for men, because the women he knew who came to the ranch AND were veterinarians were homosexuals. I was very young and didn't understand the situation very well and now my memories come back to me with the question they asked in this contest that I answer below.
When did you begin to see attitudes toward women change in your life, and what do you think prompted those changes?
Following the thread a little bit from the above, my family always lived on haciendas, doing heavy laborer work and it was not common to see women milking or taming cattle, (we would run away to learn how to milk). It was frowned upon to see the manager's daughter (my father) riding a horse to herd the cows. Immediately the zaperoco was formed because that could only be done by the workers of the farm, how are those women going to ride a horse riding the cows Beleño! (my dad was constantly told when my sisters and my cousins rode horses).
In recent times, women have been obliged, more than in equal rights with men, to take on work practices equal to men because of "necessity", in conjunction with the "feminist awakening" that has been championed in many countries.

We can spend a long time discussing something as simple as "the capabilities" a woman can have to perform any task. We have become more independent when it comes to academic and work preparation. We are taking the reins of very important tasks at a world political level, of administration of a country, which is if you will, the strongest scale of responsibility that can reach a person, women are giving the front because how many women have become presidents of a country in recent years, how many have become prime ministers, how many have commanded battalions and military troops? Much truth, it is here where we see that the role of women is as important as it has been for men.

We have already taken off the blindfold and with much respect for men, we have equal or more to give to continue forging a country, because a country is not forged only from a sink of dishes, behind a brush or polishing floors, as had happened for years, a future is forged by working together respecting and treating us all equally.
We cannot be unaware that there are also countries that still do not even allow education for women, a form of dress..... is regrettable as many women must go through mistreatment just for thinking and wanting to do different things.
And this is not all now is that we have the strength and the desire to continue experimenting new fields in which women will be of great help for the development and preservation of the planet.
We must remember, "that life is only one, and it takes man and woman to give life".

Asi era antes, te vetaban cuando elegías alguna profesión, que supuestamente era sólo para hombres, el tiempo ha demostrado amiga @edithb que las mujeres somos capaces para ejercer los cargos y profesiones dificiles, dando buenos esultados en el desempeño. Diría que más bien lo que no podemos hacer son trabajos donde se tenga que emplear la fuerza, sin embargo también estos son realizados por mujeres.
