A few days back, I've made quite a long post about why I wanted to stay in Bronze league but TLDR, it costs me less and I can slowly build up my cards before climbing up. That way, I won't have issues with a lot of stuff.

I got bonked by, I think one of the devs? And gave me a warning because he thought I was post farming or based on my understanding, just posting in order to get rewards. Hence, that's the reason for that not so short post, just so everyone knows my thought process.

Now, I've decided to prove that I'm not doing that and I can actually go higher if I wanted to. I've decided to give my purchase funding to my rental funding and try to increase my league rank and now I can climb up to Gold league if I want to as you can see in the photo below:

The League Levels

In Splinterlands, each level is divided by League levels. You can rank up by reaching a certain rating and collection power. You can get higher ratings by winning each fight, and lose some if you get defeats. Collection power depends on the cards you have and their rarity and pack series. Higher rarity and/or older packs give you higher collection power while lower rarity and/or newer packs gives you less.

Each league level, has certain pros and cons. TLDR, the higher the league rank, the better rewards you get but you also are required to have better cards in order not to accrue reward penalties.

Where am I at right now?

I'm currently at Silver 1, 2216 rating at 44,990 collection power. I got less collection power because my rentals just expired a few hours ago but that can easily be fixed since I still have half of my rental budget.

For a bit of transparency, I'm currently renting $2.5 worth of cards per week, which is around $5 per season or every 2 weeks. I think I can pull this down a little bit more to $2 per week but I'm still checking it out. There are key cards like Chain Golem and Death Elemental that I must rent regardless of the price while there are some like Parasitic Growth that I can cancel or not rent because there are other options available.

Pretty much, I am still testing out the waters as this is my first or almost second week of ranking up. Once I finalized my key cards, I can get close to seeing what my rental cost really is.

I am also playing in Modern Format. Splinterlands has both Modern and Wild Format. Wild Format allows you to play all cards from Alpha series to Riftwatchers but requires higher collection power to stay in that league. Modern Format only allows you to use cards from Untamed to Riftwatchers. This also requires you less collection power to maintain the league so it's cheaper to rent your way to higher league.

I'm also at 241 right now in the leaderboards, but there's 7 more days to go so it's a little bit earlier to say if that's going to last. The good news is I am climbing up like 100 rating at least per day right now so I should be able to reach the top ladder towards the end if this continue.

Above is the last season's leaderboards. I've recently discovered that the higher the rank, the higher the "Top x" where you can get rewards. For example, in Bronze, the Top 20 is granted DEC rewards, for Silver, it's Top 25, in Gold, it's Top 30, in Diamond, it's Top 40 and in Champion, it's Top 50. The rewards also changes and gets higher the higher the ranking.

The Top 1 Champion or Highest ranking player in all Splinterlands receives 200,000 DEC or around $114 for being the best player in Splinterlands. Ranking resets every 2 weeks or every season.

Pros and Cons of Being in Silver

silver 1.PNG

Silver gets higher rewards than Bronze in terms of leaderboard rewards. There's also a higher chance of getting legendary cards and gold cards than Bronze.

For some reason also, in terms of battle, I think Silver gets higher mana cap so you can unleash stronger monsters more freely. In Bronze, I get a lot of 20 mana cap and below battles. In Silver, you get a lot of above that.

In terms of Cards, silver also allows higher level monsters. The maximum cap is level 5 common, level 4 rare, level 3 epics and level 2 legendaries. Some of these max caps allows you to have monsters with better and multiple abilities.

However, it's not all sunshine in Silver. There's also a minimum cap applied but for rewards. That means, if you use anything below level 3 common monsters, level 2 rares, level 2 epics and level 1 legendaries, you get penalties in that battle lowering what you call, "Focus points." Focus points are required in order to unlock daily chests so if you keep using level 1s, you may need more battles in order to unlock a single chest.

You also need to maintain a collection point in order for you to keep climbing in Silver. If I get below 7500 collection power, I'll fall back to bronze. The same happens if I get lower than 1000 rating. These rules kind of forces you to either buy the cards for power or rent them. Right now, I am renting my way to silver and rents almost every card I needed, which is the main issue on the next section.

Pros and Cons of Being in Gold

Technically, the pros and cons in Gold are same in Silver. You get higher rewards, unleash stronger monsters, and get higher leaderboard rewards.

There's also higher minimum cap for not getting a penalty which means you will be forced more to spend if you want to keep being in the gold level.

Should I move up or not?

Based on my current rentals, if I am to become a Gold player and keep playing in gold, I need around thrice my rentals or $6 every week or $12 every 2 weeks for rentals. This is only my assumption and is not final as I don't have any experience being in that league.

I will do, however, get better rewards, and higher chance of getting in leaderboards since there's top 30 instead of top 20. I'm thinking if I should go to Gold now, or simply sit in silver and try to compete for leaderboards. If I can get to leaderboards a few times, I can slowly build my collection so I need to rent less in the future.

Dear @konaqua,
Our previous proposal expired end of December and the Hivebuzz project is not funded anymore. May we ask you to review and support our new proposal (https://peakd.com/me/proposals/248)?
Thank you for your help!

I got bonked by, I think one of the devs? And gave me a warning because he thought I was post farming or based on my understanding, just posting in order to get rewards.

Really? Can they do that? Don't players have a choice what to do with their game? I don't have know-hows on the game but if it's part of your strategy to stay in Bronze league for a while to build your account, I wouldn't see it as an issue unless you are simply taking our your rewards and bringing them elsewhere.

Anyhow, good luck to you and keep forging ahead. 😉

You have already used the number of tips you had for the day. Please try again tomorrow or buy more LOH tokens to send more tips.

I don't blame them because the games I've been doing is in like the lower division. So they might've thought that I was just playing a few games, then post it to gain their upvotes. Actually, I've never said this but when that happened, I was trying to get to the leaderboards in bronze which I wasn't able to. I was planning to post if ever I reached top 20 but I wasn't so I scrapped that content in my drawing board.

I've reached like top 6 in Bronze the first few days, then towards the end of the season, I'm having a hard time climbing so I end up like in the top 50 for 3 seasons. There's 15 days per season so I was trying for like one and a half month. I don't have proof coz I deleted them already but yeah.

Since I'm posting bronze battles, and staying in bronze for a couple of months now, they thought I was just here for the rewards. I'm not posting what's happening behind the camera as well so I really wouldn't blame them. Also, it kind of helped me realize that I need to do an update once in a while so they wouldn't misunderstood.

Thanks for checking in by the way. I really appreciate you dropping by.
