The 82nd edition of the Ladies of Hive CONTEST has come to a close and winners have been selected! It was difficult as all the entries were wonderful! We would like to thank everyone who participated and are glad that the invitations brought more women into our community!
I am older than most of the women in this community, and perhaps that is why I was surprised that some entries spoke negatively about the Women's Movement and Feminism, in general. My own grandmother remembered not being able to vote when she was young. I clearly remember being a child in the 1960s when girls were not allowed to wear pants of any kind, only skirts and dresses. I also remember being told that "girls can't be astronauts, or fire fighters," or many other professions. It was only when the Women's Movement came to full force in the late 1960s and early 1970s that things began to change. Younger women in their 20s, 30s, 40s, and 50s won't remember those times, but I do! Like it or not, women today owe a big debt of gratitude for what was accomplished for all of us then by the Feminist Women's Movement!
As always, you poured your hearts into your writing. I enjoyed reading the viewpoints of my sisters around the globe. Thank you, everyone, for your entries, especially those who recounted personal experiences with the subject! 🤗 –thekittygirl
