Weird food?

@kaerpedium is hosting the

35th EDITION of the
LADIES OF HIVE COMMUNITY CONTEST

The contest question that attracted my attention is

2️⃣ What’s the weirdest food you’ve eaten and what was the experience like?

I really can't think of any food that I have eaten that I didn't like, or would consider weird. Except raw tomatoes, but obviously that's just me and not something that the rest of the world considers weird.

When traveling to other countries the opportunity is always there to try new and unusual foods. Trying grilled octopus in Greece was a new and delightful experience and it immediately became a new favorite, but Congee for breakfast in Taipei must be an acquired taste.

While traveling in the south of France my travel partner saw this menu item salade de foie de poulet and in an attempt to show off the little bit of French that he knew, he ordered what he thought was a chicken salad. The look of absolute horror on his face when the waiter set down a plate with a few romaine lettuce leaves heaped high with chicken livers was memorable! As soon as the waiter departed he said 'I cannot eat this'.

I gave one last look at my beautiful salade paysanne and only had a moment to appreciate the lettuce, ham, Roquefort, walnuts, potatoes and perfect soft boiled eggs and be grateful that it had green beans, but no tomatoes before I heard myself offering to trade with him.

I had never seen that many chicken livers in one place in my entire life, and thankfully they were quite delicious! They had been fried with bacon and onions and dressed with balsamic vinegar and although it was a protein heavy way to start a late night meal and I wasn't able to finish them all, it was a food adventure for me!

If I ever have the opportunity I might even order it myself next time!

Hello dear friend @ melinda010100 good afternoon
In this area of the world it is very common to eat chicken liver, in fact, all the chicken is eaten.
I appreciate that you shared this experience
I take this opportunity to wish you a splendid afternoon

I like chicken livers but found I have a limit as to how many I can eat at one time! 😁

Okay, tomatoes! I will remember that for when we see each other!
Hahaha... I had never seen that many chicken livers in one place in my entire life it must have horrified you! I don't mind tomatoes or chicken livers!
I guess I'm one of those eaters, lol!

I was happy to learn that I liked chicken livers! I had only ever seen them one at a time... The one that came with a whole chicken, along with the heart and gizzard!

Livers are supposed to be good for something... what is it again?
Anyway, I love it's unique texture and taste, I like it most in pate!

I don't know if they are good for you, but when cooked properly they are tasty. I like pate, too.

What’s the weirdest food you’ve eaten and what was the experience like?

The weirdest food I have ever encountered which I couldn't even taste was live octopus. That's a Korean food. I and my friend once stopped by a Korean restaurant here in my country only to see people enjoying live octopus. We were actually asked to try some my Friend threw up and I just couldn't even have a bite.

Octopus sashimi? I like it! What was it that you didn't like? The idea of it? Or the flavor or texture?

Everything! The octopus were moving in the plate! You wouldn't expect me to eat something that if I mistakenly swallow a live one without chewing it, it will stick to my intestines and cause damage right?

Wow! It doesn't get much fresher than that! I wouldn't eat it if it was still moving either.

Lol! See my point now?

😜Definitely!

I think the weirdest thing I ever tasted was a fruit that smelled like dirty feet, but it tasted like banana. I don't remember its name but I'm going to look for it to participate, this contest caught my attention!😜

Lol! A fruit smelling like dirty feet is humorous.

but it tasted like banana.

Even when you senses such smell you still tasted it! Wow! You are extraordinary. I'll really love to know the name of such fruit that tastes like banana but smells like feet lol.

Yes, I was very brave! Well actually I tried it because it is something that people eat around here in Mexico and the person who told me to try it had already eaten it and told me it was good. If I hadn't had a reference from someone else, I wouldn't have tried it for sure.🤣

Yes, I was very brave!

You sure are lol.

If I hadn't had a reference from someone else, I wouldn't have tried it for sure.🤣

I understand now lol. You had a coach who assured you of it sweetness. Hehehe.

Yes, something like that was! 😜

Durian? Plug your nose before tasting!

Was that Durian? I wonder why people commonly refers the smell like dirty feet. I don't think it smells like that at all. To me, there's some tangy, sour smell to it but tastes either sweet or bitter.

I don't know what Durian is. I have to search the web.
