Momento devastador
Hace 3 años mi mamá quedó ciega, sufrió desprendimiento de retina de ambos ojos, en esa época estábamos pasando por una crisis familiar debido al comportamiento agresivo de uno de mis hermanos que sufre bipolaridad y su medicación había dejado de hacer su función, eran días muy estresantes y el cuerpo de mi mamá no aguanto.
Mi mamá en ese entonces tenía 60 años con la responsabilidad de tener a su cargo a su mamá de 90 (mi abuela), su hermana espacial con síndrome de Down (mi tía) y adicionalmente mi hermano con bipolaridad. Era una situación más estresante para mí.
Había que actuar rápido para operar y evitar que el hilo que unía sus retinas no terminará de caer, de ser así la ceguera sería irreversible, pero esa operación cuesta como dice el refrán, un ojo de la cara, es muy costoso salvar un ojo y si se multiplica por dos imagínate la cifra, aunque se vendiera la casa, un carro no se llegaba a la cifra. Me di a la tarea de buscar ayuda por todos los medios gubernamentales (mi esperanza dependía de ello) que inocente e ilusa fui.
Devastating moment
Three years ago my mom went blind, she suffered retinal detachment of both eyes, at that time we were going through a family crisis due to the aggressive behavior of one of my brothers who suffers from bipolar disorder and his medication had stopped working, they were very stressful days and my mom's body could not take it.
My mom at the time was 60 years old with the responsibility of taking care of her 90-year-old mother (my grandmother), her special sister with Down syndrome (my aunt), and additionally my brother with bipolar. It was a most stressful situation for me.
It was necessary to act quickly to operate and prevent the thread that joined his retinas from falling, if so the blindness would be irreversible, but that operation as the saying goes worth more than an eye from the face, it is very expensive to save an eye and if you multiply it by two imagine the figure, even if the house was sold, a car would not reach the figure. I took on the task of looking for help through all the governmental means (my hope depended on it), how innocent and deluded I was.
Para no hacer el cuento tan largo, cuando ya no tenía esperanzas y me encontraba derrumbada en el piso de un hospital lejos de la ciudad donde vivíamos, una desconocida me levantó y me dijo unas palabras que no recuerdo, lo que sí me acuerdo es que sentí como un baño de luz y agua fresca que renovó mis esperanzas. Tres días después tenía el dinero para operar a mi mamá y salvarle la luz de sus ojos.
Tres personas que estaban afuera del país, familiares, donaron el dinero. No sé si catalogarlo como un milagro, mi momento devastador tuvo un final feliz.
To make a long story short, when I had no more hope and was collapsed on the floor of a hospital far from the city where we lived, a stranger picked me up and said some words that I do not remember, but what I do remember is that I felt like a bath of light and freshwater that renewed my hopes. Three days later I had the money to operate on my mother and save the light in her eyes.
Three people who were out of the country, relatives, donated the money. I don't know if I can call it a miracle, my devastating moment had a happy ending.
Sé pudiera decir que fue un momento revelador recibir palabras de esperanza; sin embargo, ver que más allá de la muerte hay otra cosa, es lo más revelador que he experimentado.
He visto fallecer dos miembros de mi familia, por alguna razón he estado cuando ellos se van, en una de las muertes una tía estaba en estado de coma, despertó y reconoció a las personas que allí estábamos, luego empezó hacer pucheros como lo hace un bebé y antes de empezar a llorar su rostro se elevó y su mirada de lleno de luz, cambió su gesto de dolor por uno de asombro y luego una gran sonrisa apareció, estaba feliz de ver algo o alguien, así se fue y descanso.
Ese momento me dio la certeza que la muerte no existe, el espíritu continúa su viaje, al fin y al cabo somos energía y la energía no muere, solo se transforma.
I know I could say it was an eye-opening moment to receive words of hope; however, to see that beyond death there is something else is the most eye-opening thing I have ever experienced.
I have seen two members of my family pass away, and for some reason, I have been there when they leave, in one of the deaths an aunt was in a coma, she woke up and recognized the people who were there, then she started pouting as a baby does and before she started to cry her face rose and her gaze filled with light, she changed her gesture of pain for one of amazement and then a big smile appeared, she was happy to see something or someone, so she left and rested.
That moment gave me the certainty that death does not exist, the spirit continues its journey, after all, we are energy and energy does not die, it only transforms.
