The Hundred Dollar Challenge

in Ladies of Hive4 years ago

Hello! First of all, I want to thank @romeskie for tagging and inviting me to join the "Ladies of Hive Community Contest #1". Thank you for remembering me. Hehe! :)

So there are three questions to choose from and the question I picked is...

"If you would get 100 dollars now, what would be the first thing you would do with that amount?"

A hundred dollars is already a good amount of money here in the Philippines. You can use it to buy groceries for a family good for 2 to 3 weeks or 5 pieces of jeans or eat out to a fancy restaurant and have dessert after or buy appliances, or buy a smartphone or use it to travel, etc. With this amount you can already do a couple of things in here.

Just like @romeskie I wanted money to be spent on things, experiences, and events that will be beneficial for me. I would prefer to buy something which can also help me produce and replace the money I've spent for it. Before, I bought a smartphone so I could take decent photos to share on blogs and do other online sidelines. With a phone, you can all stuff with convenience that instead of turning on your laptop and sit, you can just stay on your bed while do online stuff. I've also spent about a hundred dollars on a drawing tablet so I could do digital drawings easier and possibly profit from my passion while sharing my art online. However, I can also be careless with money sometimes especially when I find out my favorite musicians will be doing shows here in my country. In my case, this amount could already secure a Lower Box ticket or an Upper Box ticket inclusive of fare and meal. 😂 But it's usually just once a year or every two years, and it's the only few events that I could have fun. I also consider it as a short out of town vacation. Ah, guilty pleasures!

Moving on to the question, I am actually looking for a table and an ergonomic chair online recently. So maybe, if I have an extra hundred dollars right now, it would be a great help for me to be able to purchase the chair. That leaves me to save up for a table next. I've been longing to have a comfortable computer space for years now because I've been only using a monoblock chair and table for several years now and it's uncomfortable and doesn't help with maintaining good posture. Since the table is a bit high for a shirt lady like me, my shoulders get pushed a bit higher when I work on my laptop. The chair is also not adjustable and so my feet can't completely lay flat on the floor. My feet is always in a tiptoe position and it hurts the back of my thighs when I sit for several hours. I've solved the problem a bit by getting a foot stool to elevate my feet but I think it would be so much better if I get a chair and table that would really make my computer usage and drawing time comfortable.

Of course, if I don't need to purchase a table and chair, I would keep or invest the money somewhere. :)

I guess that's all I have to say. I am inviting the sisters @kneelyrac and @goiinmary, two wonderful women I met online and during the show of our favorite band two years ago to participate as well. ❤️

Wow you can do a lot with 100 bucks over there! Weird thing right, that this differs so much from country to country. Thanks for the reminder of joining the challenge :)

Yup. 100 bucks is already half or more than half of the monthly salary of an average or entry-level employee here.

It would feel like winning the lottery in that case :)

not really.. but for people below poverty line it might feel that way.

Thanks for sharing your experience with us!

thank you! :)

Well, If I could, I'd give you way more than a $100, because it sounds like you not only deserve things- like a bit of a guilty splurge on a concert or a holiday, but you really need things, like stocking up on food and a better chair, because if you're not comfortable now, you'l end up spending a lot more money in the future trying to fix the bad back and legs that you have gotten from sitting in the wrong positions...

I wish you luck and I hope that you are able to get everything that you need and deserve, both in the hive and IRL.

Take care and be safe. 😊

Hello! Thank you for your concern! ❤️ Don't worry, so far I'm still doing fine. I take a rest when my legs get tired. I am actually planning to buy a much comfortable table and chair by December. :)

Oh good I'm glad to hear cause I did too many silly things when I was younger and I'm paying the price now! 🙄

Oh no, I'm so sorry to hear that. >.<
For now I try to avoid back pain by stretching every morning or after long hours of sitting.

Yes I stretch (Qigong) and dance too. You've got to.

There is a saying over here- if you don't use it, you lose it.

So I make sure that I remind myself about that every day. 😀

I searched for qigong and it looks interesting. I'll try it. :D

Yeah it's actually quite lovely and MArisa is so hypnotic too.

I'm so glad that I discovered it in March at the start of my lockdown cause its just as good for the mental health as well as the physical too.

I hope that you give it a try and if you go onto her official website, there is a page in there that explains what each session does- whether it is for a specific area/emotion or an all round session.

You're welcome and thank you for joining! :)

Ergonomics is life lalo na sa mga babad sa computer madalas. Puro online shopping na ako for ergonomic office chair for hubby lately. Ero syempre, add to cart lang. Saka na bibilhin pag may extra na talagang monies.

Sana makabili tayo ng best workspace chair and tables soon. 😁

Hive Power Up Day - Introducing the Power Up Helper!

Thank you for tagging me and Mary, Kat. 😁 Check ko yung OG post. Malaki2 narin ang $100. Dami ko din mabibili diyan. Hihi

Di na ako nakaabot. Before October 4 pala ang deadline.

pasensya na medyo late ko na rin nakita. hehe dbale meron pa siguro next time. :D

I live in Canada and $100 USD converts to $127 CAD which doesn't really go too far because of the high cost of living here but girl you definitely NEED a proper chair if you spend any significant time on your desktop to focus on writing and not on your back discomfort.
I'd probably get a nice outfit as a rare splurge for myself but I can't decide which one. I end up changing my choice of challenges.

Welcome to Ladies of Hive @straykat

Thanks for the warm welcome! And thanks for your concern, I promise I'll get a more comfortable chair soon. :D
You can always choose the one which made your heart skip a beat most! hehe!
