Do you think it's a good idea to tie your username to the name of the chain at registration? To include the word "hive" (in this case) into your username?

Not really. It would look weird, wouldn't it?
There's a term for this: "Brandjacking"
Terrible idea even if intentions are pure. In general, when creating a name, you're creating a brand, and those are supposed to be unique. That's for your own benefit. Show me one big Youtuber with Youtube in their name.
Yet, we have so many here, with steem, steemit and hive in their username 😄
I see no one mentioned the fork. I was curious if someone would mention the fork, yet no one has so far.
I noticed that over the years but it was always too late to give advice. Most are good people and mean well. Noobs still see those names and might mistake them for some kind of official representative. Plus you brand is confined to the platform. Can't branch out or sell merch.
That is very true and too bad they can't see it. I guess we all learn as long as we live, or some of us do. We have different level of education and understanding.
Yes. Granted many would be new to all this upon entering. Many wouldn't think 5 years ahead. They'd be thinking about that first post, and earning. Doesn't often attract "big names," but they already know all this, and don't need a few extra bucks.
If you look at where the most of the onboarding efforts are oriented, you'll see this is the case.
What comes to mind - Hivean / Hiveans.
I'm not looking to create one, just wanted to know what people think about it 🙂
It's already a Hive account, so why add hive to it. I don't see the added value.
Same goes for communities that have Hive in their name.
Now that you mentioned communities, yes, those are useless too.
It will just make your name longer unnecessarily. We all know we're on Hive 😀
Very true 👍
Well some people are tied to the old chain name. I've used the same name on lots of platforms.
Most likely those tied to the old chain regret it till this day. And there are those who have tattooed the logo on their skin. Imagine a fork after getting a tattoo with the logo 😬
This is one reasons I don't have tattoos :) I just have some shirts from the old days.
😂 You have no idea how many times I think of what those people are going to think about their tattoo in 5 or 10 years. I don't have any eider.
Well, I would hate it if my username had Steem in it as some do here. So no, not a good idea.
😂 Those have learnt their lesson the hard way I suppose.
I think that could be very good, or very bad, depending on how you behave with that account, and who pays attention to you.
I fail to see how the account's behavior would have any impact on the name.
If you have Hive in your name, and then come here trashing on Hive every day, I think you would get a higher than usual amount of backlash.
We agree to disagree on that, unfortunately.
It's probably a good idea but an unnecessary one because it would add any value to Hive and then the user name becomes too long.
