Probably because most x86 supercomputers are now coming with AMD CPUs... consistently. Very few customers are ordering Intel because of power efficiency makes a huge difference, and it's the highest count of cores per area too. Unsure if next year is going to change.

Intel was very good in the past. Had super amazing profiling tools and optimisation software. Then the money flooded their brains, and the ones with money jumped into the next one... leaving the company in a ridiculous death spiral.
If US had not picked up, they would be gone
