I noticed that over the years but it was always too late to give advice. Most are good people and mean well. Noobs still see those names and might mistake them for some kind of official representative. Plus you brand is confined to the platform. Can't branch out or sell merch.

That is very true and too bad they can't see it. I guess we all learn as long as we live, or some of us do. We have different level of education and understanding.
Yes. Granted many would be new to all this upon entering. Many wouldn't think 5 years ahead. They'd be thinking about that first post, and earning. Doesn't often attract "big names," but they already know all this, and don't need a few extra bucks.
If you look at where the most of the onboarding efforts are oriented, you'll see this is the case.
