Let's Get to Know Our Guests and Their Project
If you don't already know this dynamic duo, then let me introduce you to our Hive friends @godfish and @honeydue. Together they are the creative studio behind Dead Pets Society, which just debuted on Hive as @dead-pets. To celebrate them, on our next Hive Thrive Episode 58, we’ll be talking with @godfish in the Hive Discord voice channel and chatting with @honeydue in the text channel during our live recorded show. These two "deadheads" have just launched their weird and creatively explosive project. Unlike anything I've seen on the blockchain, this hand-drawn and rendered comic strip is today's answer to AI generated content fatigue.
From an actual real-life drawing board, what started as a sketch of friendly animal characters in the afterlife has de-composed (sorry, had to!) into this genuinely fascinating indie comic full of dark humour, emotional reveals, bizarre conversations, and somehow, actual heart❤️. The project has now expanded beyond Hive onto Web2 comic platforms, while still keeping Hive at its creative center. Along the way they're building story, developing characters, experimenting with NFTs through @magi.network, and attracting readers who are both delighted and curious to find something so truly original.
The vibe of Dead Pets Society feels a bit like Shaun the Sheep, a bit like Tales from the Crypt, and a bit like a indie webccomic you find at two in the morning on a school night. It’s one of those projects where you can immediately tell the creators care about storytelling and worldbuilding even ahead of engagement. Their intent is for us to fall in love with these little characters, one panel at a time.
