RE: Insomnia and me

in Inner Blocks3 years ago

Im bot a great sleeper but when I read I fall right to sleep. I can't read at night if I don't want to fall asleep on the couch Lol.
Do you wake up early or sleep in?

By the way the whole "people need 8 hours of sleep each night" is a myth. That number is based on averages. There are a lot of studies that suggest 5-12 hours of sleep are considered normal. The main important thing is whether or not a person wakes up feeling refreshed or not. The number of hours of sleep isn't really important unless the person wakes up feeling tired or does not have enough energy. Sometimes people get caught up in thinking that they aren't getting enough sleep because they don't sleep as long as the suggested norm, but they may actually be getting plenty of sleep for their particular needs.

You did mention that insomnia leads to low energy for you though so maybe youre not... ?

I agree!

My husband needs shorter sleep than me. 5 hours and he's good. In our early years of marriage, if I didn't get 7, or ideally 8 hours of sleep, then he would have to fear for his life.

Since we returned to the Uk 2 years ago, I function well on 5 hours of sleep.

I'm an early riser.
I sleep with an eye mask, and once I sense any form of light, I need to get out of bed.

My behaviour/reaction/attitude without sleep has taken a 360-degree turn.

Now,

I smile
I'm pleasant
I'm safe to be around
I even laugh at jokes.

It's a new me!!! 😆

Yeah sleep cycles seen to change over time as we age and depending on our activity levels (physical, emotional and mental).

A new you every time you wake up 😂

I've heard this as well and knew someone who only needed 4 to 5 hours sleep a night.

Lucky bastard! So many more hours of the day to get stuff done.

He did cat nap during the day though. Hah. Which is why Bob's also up at night. Just got that reference now. Clever.

Reading before sleeping is a great idea! 👍🏻
