🗞 Market Wrap: Bitcoin Near $59K as Worries on Bond Yields Increase

Bitcoin (BTC) trading around $58,882.38 as of 20:00 UTC (4 p.m. ET). Climbing 2.52% over the previous 24 hours.

Bitcoin’s 24-hour range: $56,327.79-$59,242.58 (CoinDesk 20)

BTC trades above its 10-hour and 50-hour averages on the hourly chart, a bullish signal for market technicians.

The 10-year Treasury note yield went as high as 1.74% on Friday, the highest since January 2020, after the Federal Reserve signaled Wednesday it would keep loose monetary policy for the foreseeable future.

“If rates go higher, it will force investors to rethink their long equity exposure and could open a big sell-off in stocks,”* Kruger said. “And as things stand in the short term, because bitcoin is still a maturing asset, it still shares correlations with risk sentiment. So bitcoin would be somewhat exposed if something like this played out.”*

That happens because some traders and investors try to rotate into altcoins when bitcoin isn’t popping, in pursuit of potentially higher returns.

🗞 Coinbase Delays Highly Anticipated Direct Listing to April

Cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase’s highly anticipated public offering has been shifted to April after its plan for a March listing “slipped,” according to a Bloomberg report citing people familiar with the matter.

No reason was given for the delay, but Bloomberg noted the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has been reviewing the San Francisco-based exchange's plan for a direct listing.

Coinbase formally announced its plans to go public on the Nasdaq in January and this past week registered for as many as 114.9 million shares to be traded.

Coinbase Class A shares will debut on the Nasdaq Global Select Market under the ticker "COIN."

CoinDesk reached out to Coinbase but did not receive a response by press time.

🗞 Binance Smart Chain Hit By $2.4 Million TurtleDex Exit Scam

TurtleDex have exited with 9000 BNB tokens raised from a presale days ago.

The project's online presence has gone dark.

Frequent vanishing acts indicate that the growing DeFi space is still risky business.

TurtleDex, a decentralized finance (DeFi) file storage project on the Binance Smart Chain (BSC), is believed to have pulled a rugpull exit scam yesterday when more than $2.4 million in funds were drained from trading pools on major BSC DeFi exchanges Ape Swap and Pancake Swap.

TurtleDex launched on March 15, advertising itself as a DeFi storage platform to help users store data and files securely online. Its pre-sale that day raised 9000 BNB tokens, or about $2.4 million, in just two hours.

🗞 Assassin's Creed Publisher Is Making The Next Generation Of NFT Games

Gaming giant Ubisoft continues to explore the possibilities of blockchain gaming, from NFTs you can share between games to token taxes for charity.

Game publisher Ubisoft recently released the crypto fantasy soccer game One Shot League with Sorare.

The Assassin’s Creed and Just Dance publisher is exploring ways to bring its big franchises to blockchain.

The blockchain gaming world is largely populated by startups built specifically to pioneer the burgeoning industry of crypto games, whether it’s Immutable with card-battler Gods Unchained, Sorare with its popular fantasy soccer platform, or Sky Mavis behind the Pokémon-inspired Axie Infinity.

Taking their Shot

On one hand, One Shot League looks like an attempt to create an accessible on-ramp to Sorare and to the idea of crypto gaming as a whole. The free-to-play game, which is in the midst of its initial five-week beta season, requires a Sorare account. However, it does not force players to buy cards or handle cryptocurrencies. Tied into the last few weeks of the current Belgian Jupiler Pro League season, the game provides free digital cards for users to arrange into fantasy lineups to try and earn the most points on the in-game leaderboard.
