It's true, majority shortform is posting into a void. Knowing that helps avoid disappointment. Having a special place for it rather than being mixed in with regular content, is consumer friendly. This is the right approach. The best of both worlds. I'm happy to see these changes.
Which brings me to my next point. I wasn't clear. Struggling to find attractive content, overall. Everywhere. But that's not me saying it's poor quality content. I've been doom scrolling. Things are not catching my eyes. This happens on every platform. Including the listings on the TV or trying to find a movie, even back in the rental days walking up and down the aisles, bombarded with content.
I do miss the conversations. Joking around and whatever else. Had a good experience recently on snaps where I posted some old art, said nothing, sat back and thoroughly enjoyed the response, yet still said nothing. Gave everyone an upvote(thinking about upping the percentage). Tried again. Flop. lol
I think it is a symptom of content overload. No matter the quality or lack, it is just constant. As a kid, I used to like watching 21 Jump Street, and I knew it was on a Thursday evening. The rest of the time, I was playing in the world. Now, play is the rarity, content stream the norm. Imagine having sex 16 hours a day for years - is it still good?
I don't know, but I am willing to do the experiment.
