This one of the most historic areas of the city with old style buildings, shops, restaurants, and a lot of historic vibes from the olden times, including a whistling steam clock. It has a vibrant urbane culture mixed with the many tourists that come via land, sea, and air. Sadly, a little further down the road is the downtown east side, which doesn't have a good reputation and for good reason. I have seen it change throughout the years, and I usually try to avoid it. Every time I get near it, I can hear Axel Rose's voice screeching, "you know where you are?" For those of you not familiar with this rock band, the answer is "you're in the jungle, baby."
