It's no secret that WOMEN have long been a standing equal to MEN and yet on this day, we still celebrate International Women's Day. If you ask me, it's an insult or more so a disgrace that we do. Do we need this global recognition so as we can cheer on what we have achieved all these years ? Or should it be to give thanks to those FIRST WOMEN who fought bravely for our independence ? I would choose the second, most definitely. Then again, it's just ME!
If I was back home in Malaysia, WOMEN are an accepted equal to MEN and there is no need to commemorate this day. Both MEN & WOMEN work side by side not just in the workplace but also at home. Stay home dads & career-breadwinner moms are a common thing for us. There is no disgrace in either jobs, instead we find pride in it. Having said that, we have long been a developing country and its citizens have definitely grown from when the FIRST WOMEN fought for her rights to vote in society.
Unfortunately, in Vietnam, it is a total opposite!
Not only do children commemorate their MOMS, even the MEN salute and solemnise this day for their WOMEN. Apart from International Women's Day, the Vietnam Government also commemorate Vietnam Women's Day on 20th October. It is a known fact that Women are the sole pillar in both work and home for this country. The female gender contribute far more than any men and is so much more hardworking. They are responsible to work and still perform their duties as a wife and mother to their children. MEN in many aspects are just a partial breadwinner to the family and spend most of their time sitting in coffeeshops from dusk till dawn seeping Iced Coffee.
This unfortunately is the culture of the people in this country though I have to say that it is improving with the millennials. The Millennial MEN are slowly taking more responsibility in domestic skills and allowing their WOMEN to take a break once a while. Of course, it would be a long journey before we truly see an equal between MEN and WOMEN in this country.
So, for now and many more years to come, let us just sit back and continue to celebrate gloriously International Women's Day 🙄
Life's NO Secret is all about sharing; and it can be anything at all. Be it related to health, wealth, lifestyle or education. Sometimes, secrets are not really secrets. It's just that people don't talk about it or it's just been put aside until it becomes a topic to B****** about it. It could be anything under the sun; good, silly, fun, stupid or bad to some extend.
