Wilderness Journal 02 - The Spirit Tree

DJI_05833Pano.jpg

This past weekend I was doing some filming with my drone for a short film I am making. While scanning the horizon, I spotted this monster tree. It was shining like a nugget of gold in the dirt. I am fascinated by how large this tree was. It must have bee twenty or thirty feet taller than anything in the area. I flew over and started to photograph this magnificent beast. These old-growth trees are essential for our ecosystem and allow for more diverse biology within cities. Unfortunately, we are losing this old-growth forest in the hearts of cities due to developments.

What are the benefits for you? Nature is alive. It seems these days most people do not have a connection to nature at all. Being connected to nature is something we NEED. Parks are full of life and energy. Streaming networks and social media sites are dead and lifeless. Go outside today people, look at a bird, watch the squirrels chase each other, pet a dog and breath in the frosty fall air. Connect with REAL LIFE, connect with your family, friends. I relive these are the things that are truly important.

Beautiful man! Could you imagine if one day we learned to speak with trees? The regret we would feel for loosing the wisdom of all the old trees we have cut down in the name of development? Yet even if they don't actually talk, we should learn to see their value, and stop just looking at it like it's just another source of wood.

Beautiful indeed! Great work...
Cheers!

Stunning photos of the fall colored trees from above!
So sad when so many are cut down for development to happen - wishing for humans to make smaller footprints on the earth!
Thanks for sharing!
