Last week, while visiting a family member's home, I went out to the balcony to enjoy the breeze and some beautiful ferns hanging from each other, when in the greenery I came across two eyes staring at me. I was surprised to focus well and identify a beautiful praying mantis, then my amazement increased when I realized that another pair of eyes were also staring at me, and that apparently, my need for fresh air interrupted a romantic date... 🙈
La semana pasada, estando de visita en casa de un familiar, me asomo al balcón para disfrutar de la brisa y de unos hermosos helechos que cuelgan enredados unos con otros, cuando entre el verdor me topo con dos ojos que me miran fijamente. Me sorprendo al enfocar bien e identificar a una hermosa mantis religiosa, después mi asombro aumentó al darme cuenta que otro par de ojos también me miraban fijamente, y que al parecer, mi necesidad de aire fresco interrumpió una cita romántica... 🙈

Excelentes fotografías y muy buena historia. Me encanta que hayas dado la explicación de el por qué las mantis hembras devoran a sus compañeros machos. Este comportamiento también aplica a ciertas arañas. Un gran saludo.
De verdad es muy curiosa e intrigante esa conducta, sería interesante saber por qué no todas devoran a los machos, ahí cobra fuerza la hipótesis de los aminoácidos o proteínas que quizás necesiten algunas hembras, y otras no.
