Las iguanas, como todos las conocemos tienen características muy similares a la de los dinosaurios ya extintos. Pues resulta que existieron, antiguamente habia una especie denominada "Magnuviator ovimonsensis" que data de hace mas de 66 millones de años.

Las iguanas pueden llegar a medir hasta dos metros de largo desde la cabeza a la cola. llegan a pesar hasta mas de 15 kg. Son herbívoros y su reproducción es por medio de huevos- su color verde les permite camuflarse entre la vegetación además, tiene una cresta que recorre todo el dorsal de su cuerpo. las iguanas tienen patas muy cortas y cinco dedos en cada pata, cada pata con garras muy afiladas. Su cola es larga y la utilizan para defenderse dando "latigazos" a quien interfiera con su tranquilidad.

Iguanas, as we all know them, have characteristics very similar to those of extinct dinosaurs. It turns out that they did exist, in the past there was a species called "Magnuviator ovimonsensis" that dates back more than 66 million years ago.

Iguanas can measure up to two meters long from head to tail and weigh up to 15 kg. They are herbivores and reproduce by eggs - their green color allows them to camouflage themselves among the vegetation and they have a crest that runs along the entire dorsal part of their body. Iguanas have very short legs and five toes on each leg, each leg with very sharp claws. Their tail is long and they use it to defend themselves by "whipping" anyone who interferes with their tranquility.

Las iguanas tienen un repliegue debajo de su barbilla, que usan también para defenderse y cortejar durante la época de apareamiento; donde levantan y bajan la cabeza continuamente.

Las iguanas son animales de sangre fría, por que suben a las copas de los arboles para obtener las mejor temperatura que son aproximadamente de 28 c°. Comen hojas, brotes tiernos y frutos. Son animales muy solitarios, y se les ve en comunidad en épocas de reproducción. Su hábitat se ve afectada por las continuas construcciones, tal como el caso de los humedales en Nordelta, Buenos Aires con el tema de los carpinchos. los cuales se les ve "invadiendo" propiedades, cuando en realidad son los humanos encargados.

Iguanas are cold-blooded animals, because they climb to the treetops to obtain the best temperature, which is approximately 28°C. They eat leaves, tender shoots and fruits. Their habitat is affected by the continuous constructions, such as the case of the wetlands in Nordelta, Buenos Aires with the capybaras, which are seen "invading" properties, when in fact they are the humans in charge.

Me encantan las iguanas, las observas y casi que sientes que estas con los dinosaurios, se les ve lo antiguas que son, animales majestuosos, con mucha fuerza y sus colores son hermosos. Lamentándolo mucho, el humano como siempre destruye su habitad y, no se ha fomentado el respeto y cuidado de ellas. Gracias por tu publicación para que los demás sepan de ellas. Excelente
