En Venezuela esperamos la época de lluvia para el mes de mayo, este año como en otros anteriores ha sido diferente. Estamos en julio y es en este momento cuando caen fuertes chubascos en varias regiones del país. Luego de las lluvias aparecen las hermosas flores y con ella todo un proceso que implica a la naturaleza.
In Venezuela we are expecting the rainy season in May, this year as in previous years has been different. We are in July and it is at this time when heavy rains fall in several regions of the country. After the rains the beautiful flowers appear and with it a whole process that involves nature.
Hago este breve paréntesis solo para señalar que hoy día, por los caminos de las montañas, luego de la fuerte sequía aún sigue sin manifestarse la lluvia como debía ser. Esto, ha traído como consecuencia debilidad de las plantas. Las florecitas silvestres son las más afectadas, al no tener a alguien quien las riegue, morirán antes de tiempo.
I make this brief parenthesis only to point out that today, on the mountain roads, after the strong drought, the rain still does not appear as it should. This, has brought as consequence weakness of the plants. The wild flowers are the most affected, not having someone to water them, they will die before their time.
Algunos pobladores si han logrado el milagro de dar vida a algunas de las especies de flores. Una que llamo mi atención fue esta planta hallada en una ventana y a la cual en Venezuela le llamamos Novio, en otros lugares o países se le conoce como Geranio. Sus florecitas blancas y rojas daban un toque hermoso a la casa construida con bahareque. Conversé con la dueña de la mata y me dio unos tips interesantes. Yo, simplemente la he visto como una bella e interesante flor. Mi madre la cultivaba y no sé por cuál razón me llamaba tanto la atención.
Some inhabitants have achieved the miracle of giving life to the flower species. One that caught my attention was this plant found in a window and which in Venezuela we call Novio, in other places or countries it is known as Geranium. Its little red and white flowers gave a beautiful touch to the house built with Bahareque. I talked to the owner of the bush and she gave me some interesting tips. I simply saw it as a beautiful and interesting flower. My mother used to grow it and I don't know why it caught my attention so much.
Tomé unas fotos desde lejos, la señora se mostró muy amable pero se mantenía aislada por el tema del coronavirus, es bastante mayor y la entiendo, el deber ser es cuidarse. Sin embargo, a cierta distancia logré los objetivos, conversar con ella y fotografiar la planta.
I took some photos from a distance, the lady was very kind but she was isolated by the subject of the coronavirus, she is quite old and I understand her, the duty is to take care of herself. However, at a certain distance I achieved the objectives, talking to her and photographing the plant.
La señora tiene mucha fe en ella, la usa para curar heridas y para realizar baños de asiento cuando se tiene problemas con las hemorroides, dice que desinflaman de inmediato. Me encanta el olor del Geranio y su flor es simplemente sublime, es colirio para mis ojos, y melodía para mis recuerdos.
The lady has a lot of faith in it, she uses it to heal wounds and to perform sitz baths when she has problems with hemorrhoids, she says they immediately go down. I love the smell of Geranium and its flower is simply sublime, it is eye drops for my eyes, and melody for my memories.
Las personas de generaciones anteriores solían y suelen tomar muchos tés e infusiones de plantas. Hoy día se sugiere ser más cuidadosos por los avances científicos y estudio de sus propiedades. Aún así la señora me dice que esta planta actúa como diurético, desinflama y limpia la sangre. Siempre digo que la fe hace milagros, y la naturaleza, para muchos, forma parte de esos milagros de la vida.
People from previous generations used to and do drink a lot of teas and plant infusions. Today it is suggested to be more careful because of the scientific advances and study of its properties. Yet the lady tells me that this plant acts as a diuretic, it reduces inflammation and cleanses the blood. I always say that faith makes miracles, and nature, for many, is part of those miracles of life.
