Peregrine Falcon cooling off

Hi folks,

I just revisited the nesting(!) peregrine falcons in LA and would to share some pics with you!

BTW, the highest ever recorded speed of a peregrine falcon was over 380km/h or 240mph.
This one however wasn’t keen on setting another record and took a bath instead.

The whole thing only lasted some short minutes and I am quite glad I got some keepers,
I hope you like them!

cheers

Denis

Stunning photos, all of them, but that first one is my fav! Awesome work!

He sure was blowing bubbles and having a great bath time!

Amazing photography where in the wild was this?

@tipu curate

@denisroschlau said it was in Los Angeles which is hardly in "the wild" 😂

Thanks @jerrytsuseer so not zipping around 'free range', excellent photography on the bird enjoying bath time.

Glad I didn't offend, many folk dislike it when things are pointed out. Thanks @joanstewart

We have seen them at a rehabilitation home for birds here, I have seen photography of them in the UK at bird shows.

One I did see photographed in a city was in USA, which made me think the possibility this is in the wild.

Peregrine is quite a global bird living on most continents, always interesting to learn more and never take objection when corrected @jerrytsuseer

Falcons are finding their way back into many areas with humans, with pigeons being plentiful in cities the falcon have sufficient food source.

Birds don't need permission as to where they nest, it is good news they are moving back into regions bringing balance back into nature.

We have African crowned eagle nest locally here (not seen in all 40 years I have lived here), I have sighted them twice in the last couple of months. Known to hunt Vervet monkeys that have grown into massive troops, again hopefully the big birds will bring some balance.

Great to know, I have seen some taking to living in high-rise buildings in some cities, normally close to rivers and/or parks.

Amazing photography with exceptional timing, that falcon looked all in for enjoying the water!

Haha, this one looks like a lil kiddo enjoying a splash in the puddles... :D

Stunning! What a majestic bird. Thanks to @xplosive for reblogging these unforgettable photos. Well captured @denisroschlau. The splashes of water. The deep green against the yellow beak. The reflection. Beautiful

Beautiful Shots!

Stunning photos! You caught such a brilliant moment with this gorgeous bird.

They are hilarious when they are taking a bath.

Hi @denisroschlau, I don't normally vote on a post that has already garnered this much payout, but these are some
