Long, long time ago in the other blockchain that_shall_not_be_named I had a short series of posts or photos (cannot remember correctly anymore) called "Survivors". It was all about the tiny little plants sprouting in the weirdest places. Most of them would pop in the middle of a road, tree stump or would grow on the side of the wall. You get the idea.
And then I stopped posting them and kind of forgot the whole thing.
Until I saw this one!
This is a small wild Geranium (Geranium purpureum I am guessing) growing on the dead cork oak tree. It maybe would be a strange thing if it was a normal tree with normal bark. You know the corks that you get in wine bottles? They are made directly from the bark, which is very light and doesn't hold much water.
Yet, some plants and mosses do manage to grow on it.
I can imagine it is a very short life though. It is a common weed around and when they grow in the soil the leaves are green and bigger. Multiple flowers bloom and produce seeds.
The seeds for this one were probably dragged by the wind, got stuck in some crack in the bark and managed to sprout with some winter and spring rains. But as soon as the rains stop the bark dries up completely. The plant will probably dry soon too. They grow quite fast the little time it had was enough to produce a few seed pods. That's what you see on the photos at the end of the long stems.
Then they will release the seeds and as soon as the rains come again, the cycle repeats.

.Nice, you know sometimes thing happened in a wonderful way, that is the work God for you.
It met look imagine or have a very short life to you. but if rain fall and other plants is still growing as well.
Even if the rain stop nothing can stop it because it will be feeding on that plant for itself to grow.
That's how mother nature works ;)
You have an amazingly creative eye. It is necessary to see such a "work" and be able to show it in the right angle.
Thanks a lot! :)
I guess finding all kinds of weird things is my thing.
So I thought right.
Geraniums are amazing. The ones we had in Southern California could dry out completely, become hollow, withered twigs, and then with a tiny bit of water turn green and alive again.
I hope you bring your survivors to Hive. I would like to see them!
I will try to remember and shoot some more of them. Some of them just grow wherever :p
Nice shots from you.
I don't get to see most of this in my part of the world because nobody literally cares about them. People just step on them and go their way.
Here too. They are common weeds that grow in every possible place.
Still cool to shoot them :)
Cute little aliens
Hehe yea :D
We often pass by such moments.
Only a master of his craft can make a candy out of nothing.
It is good to stop in one for for a few minutes and just look around. There is always something to shoot :)
I still do it. Steem (from where Hive was hardforked).
:o
The evil word :p
Love it @ewkaw great images, great photography.
