Ringelnatter ■ The grass snake
Natrix natrix (Linnaeus, 1758)
Ringelnattern gehören zu bekanntesten und vor allem häufigsten Schlangen in Deutschland. Ich habe mehrere Seen, ganz in meiner Nähe an denen ich diese Schlagen beobachten kann. Die Schlange hält sich meistens im Wasser auf, um dort nach Fröschen und Fischen zu jagen. Die Ringelnatter reagiert auf Erschütterungen und ergreift die Flucht. Gerne ruhen sie auf Ästen, um sich zu sonnen. Für uns Menschen ist dieses Reptil, welches durchaus eine stattliche Länge von über 1,5 m erreicht, völlig ungefährlich.
Grass snakes are among the most well-known and most common snakes in Germany. I have several lakes, very close to me where I can observe these snakes. The snake usually stays in the water to hunt for frogs and fish. The grass snake reacts to shocks and takes flight. They like to rest on branches to sunbathe. For us humans this reptile, which can reach an impressive length of over 1.5 m, is completely harmless.

Der Grund, warum ich heute eine Schlange zeige, ist ein Anruf vom Bundesamt für Naturschutz von heute. Mein nachfolgendes Bild, welches ich vor neun Jahren in einer Foto Community gezeigt hatte, wurde als Coverbild für die Naturbewusstseinsstudie 2019 ausgewählt. Als der Mann mir das Bild am Telefon beschrieben hatte, wusste ich sofort, welches Foto er meinte. Damit hatte ich nun wirklich nicht gerechnet. Ich freue mich, dass mein Bilder vom Mai 2011 als Coverbild auf einer wissenschaftlichen Studie erscheint.
The reason why I show a snake today is a call from the Federal Agency for Nature Conservation from today. My following picture, which I showed nine years ago in a photo community, was chosen as cover picture for the Nature Consciousness Study 2019. When the man described the picture to me on the phone, I immediately knew which photo he meant. I had really not expected this. I am happy that my picture from May 2011 will appear as cover picture on a scientific study.

Noooo!!! how scary! I don't dare to photograph a snake, even though the photos are amazing and it's a beautiful animal, I still prefer to see them from far away! 😂
Most snakes flee when a human being is only in your vicinity. In the rarest of cases, there is therefore a danger of being bitten by a snake.
My mom was bitten on her toe by a little snake that she stepped on while walking. She was in the hospital in a lot of pain and her toenail never grew back the same. That must be why I'm terrified of snakes!☹️
So schön, du bist richtig nahe rangekommen. Ich seh sie immer meist erst wenn Sie die Flucht ergreifen.
Die Schlangen reagieren auf Erschütterungen. Also wenn man ruhig sitzen bleibt und sich nur langsam bewegt kommt man ziemlich nah ran. In meinem Fall hatte ich ein 400mm Objektiv + Telekonverter. So konnte ich mich der Schlange bis auf ca 2m nähern.
Wenn ich die im See vor mir sähe, würde ich aber auch ganz schnell das weite suchen. ;-)

Vielen Dank Michael. Allerdings ist der bürokratische Aufwand bezüglich der Rechte ein nicht zu unterschätzender Aufwand. Da sind schon einige Dokumente notwendig 😫
