It is a pleasure to be back with you, sharing my discoveries about the world around me. I have learned that there is always something new to know, we just have to be attentive and then let our curiosity allow us to access knowledge.
En esta oportunidad les presento un pequeño congorocho, al menos, ese es el nombre con que conozco a esos pequeños insectos. Me percate de su presencia en uno de los rincones de mi casa, porque, llamo mi atención las tonalidades doradas de su especie de caparazón. Por supuesto, corrí a buscar mi cámara, para así poder capturar para la posteridad a mi pequeño visitante, que resultó ser un escarabajo.
In this opportunity I present a small “congorocho”, at least, that is the name with which I know these small insects. I noticed its presence in one of the corners of my house, because the golden shades of its shell caught my attention. Of course, I ran to get my camera, so I could capture for posterity my little visitor, which turned out to be a beetle.
Después de investigar un poco en la internet descubrí, que se trata de una especie de coleóptero identificada científicamente como Attagenus Fasciatus. Este pequeño escarabajo pertenece a la familia Dermestidae y es una de las 200 especies que conforman el género los Attagenus. Antes de continuar, les comento un detalle interesante, resulta que el género Attagenus muy antiguo, se han encontrado fósiles encapsulados en ámbar cuya edad supera los 99 millones de años.
After some research on the internet I discovered that this is a species of coleopteran scientifically identified as Attagenus Fasciatus. This small beetle belongs to the family Dermestidae and is one of the 200 species that make up the genus Attagenus. Before continuing, I tell you an interesting detail, it turns out that the genus Attagenus very old, fossils have been found encapsulated in amber whose age exceeds 99 million years.
Pero sigamos hablando específicamente de esta especie de insecto mejor conocido de forma popular con los nombres, Escarabajo del armario, Escarabajo de Alfombra negro con banda o Escarabajo de la semilla del Tabaco. En cuanto al lugar de donde es originario, al parecer no se tiene certeza, sin embargo, se supone que es Oceanía o Europa, pero en la actualidad, a excepción de los polos los podemos encontrar alrededor de todo el mundo.
But let's continue talking specifically about this species of insect better known popularly by the names, Closet Beetle, Black Banded Carpet Beetle or Tobacco Seed Beetle. As for where it originated from, apparently there is no certainty, however, it is supposed to be Oceania or Europe, but nowadays, except for the poles we can find them all over the world.
Esta especie de escarabajo llega a medir cuando mucho 5.8 mm y se distingue de otras especies, porque en su cuerpo mayormente negro o marrón oscuro presenta unas manchas o franjas en un tono dorado. Ahora, en lo que respecta a su hábitat, se le puede ver al aire libre o en el interior de nuestros hogares, pero eso sí, prefiere lugares cálidos. Su dieta se fundamente en alimentos almacenados de origen animal o vegetal, textiles de lana y cuero, además, de otros insectos y debo destacar, que en algunos lugares se les considera una plaga.
This species of beetle can measure up to 5.8 mm and can be distinguished from other species because its mostly black or dark brown body has golden spots or stripes. Now, as far as its habitat is concerned, it can be seen outdoors or inside our homes, but it prefers warm places. Their diet is based on stored foods of animal or vegetable origin, wool and leather textiles, as well as other insects, and I must point out that in some places they are considered a pest.
