Queridos lectores, aquí estoy de nuevo con ustedes compartiéndoles una vez más, otra selección de mis fotografías sobre la maravillosa naturaleza que me rodea. En esta ocasión les traigo una fruta, que estoy segura que la conocen, ya que, es sumamente popular. Aquí en Venezuela, a esta fruta sin importar la especie a la que pertenezca se le conoce indiferentemente como Limón, sea de color amarillo o verde, como es el caso de las imágenes que les comparto.
Dear readers, here I am again sharing with you another selection of my photographs of the wonderful nature that surrounds me. This time I bring you a fruit, which I am sure you know it, since it is extremely popular. Here in Venezuela, this fruit, regardless of the species it belongs to, is known indifferently as Lemon, whether it is yellow or green, as is the case of the images I share with you.
Ahora, hablando específicamente de la especie a la que corresponden las imágenes, sé que en muchos lugares es conocida como Lima. Sin embargo, aquí en Venezuela, al igual que en Centroamérica, Colombia, Ecuador, México, Perú y las Islas del Caribe, se le conoce como Limón. Lo que sí es común para todos, es que esta especie, perteneciente a la familia de las Rutaceae y al género de los Cítricos, fue bautizada en el ámbito científico con el nombre Citrus Aurantiifolia.
Now, speaking specifically of the species to which the images correspond, I know that in many places it is known as Lima. However, here in Venezuela, as well as in Central America, Colombia, Ecuador, Mexico, Peru and the Caribbean Islands, it is known as Limón. What is common to all is that this species, belonging to the Rutaceae family and the Citrus genus, was baptized in the scientific field with the name Citrus Aurantiifolia.
Ya les comenté, que, dependiendo del sitio, a esta fruta cítrica originaria del Sureste de Asia y de la India, se le puede conocer como Lima o Limón, pero, digamos que esos son sus nombres más populares. Esta especie, en algunos lugares también se le conoce como Limón Sutil, Limón Ceutí, Limón Peruano, Limón Mexicano, Limón Criollo, Limón Pica, Lima Ácida, Lima Gallega o Limoncillo de Lima y en el caso de Filipinas, se le conoce por 2 distintos nombres, Dayap, Limón Sentil.
I already told you that, depending on the place, this citrus fruit native to Southeast Asia and India, can be known as lime or lemon, but let's say that those are its most popular names. This species, in some places is also known as subtle lemon, Ceuti lemon, Peruvian lemon, Mexican lemon, Creole lemon, Pica lemon, sour lime, Galician lime and limoncillo de lima and in the case of the Philippines, it is known by 2 different names, Dayap, Sentil lemon.
Esta especie, es un hibrido originada a partir de las especies del Citrus Micrantha y Citrus Medica, y en la actualidad, es dentro de las especies del género de los cítricos, una de las más extensamente cultivadas. Su árbol, es conocido por el nombre de Limero o Limonero y entra dentro de la categoría de los arbustos, ya que, es de tamaño pequeño al no superar los 5 metros de altura.
This species is a hybrid originated from the species of Citrus Micrantha and Citrus Medica, and nowadays, it is one of the most widely cultivated species of the citrus genus. Its tree is known by the name of Limero or Limonero and falls into the category of shrubs, as it is small in size, not exceeding 5 meters in height.
Los Limeros o Limoneros, son árboles perennes que por lo general se caracterizan, por ser muy ramificado y por poseer un tronco torcido. Sus ramas poseen pequeñas y duras espinas axilares, con hojas perennes de forma ovalada y de color verde que miden entre 2,5 y 9 cm de largo y de 1,5 y 5, 5 cm de ancho.
Lemon trees are evergreen trees that are generally characterized by being very branched and by having a twisted trunk. Its branches have small and hard axillary thorns, with evergreen oval-shaped green leaves that measure between 2.5 and 9 cm long and between 1.5 and 5.5 cm wide.
Sus inflorescencias agrupan entre 1 y 7 pequeñas florecillas, que cuando mucho llegan a medir de diámetro 2,5 cm. cada una. Las pequeñas flores son muy fragantes y de un color blanco amarillento, y algunas tienen en el borde de cada uno de sus 5 pétalos una delgada línea púrpura.
Its inflorescences group between 1 and 7 small flowers, which at most reach a diameter of 2.5 cm. each. The small flowers are very fragrant and of a yellowish white color, and some have on the edge of each of its 5 petals a thin purple line.
En cuanto a su fruta o baya, son mundialmente apreciadas, por sus propiedades antisépticas y valor gastronómico, además, de que es ampliamente conocido que su pulpa posee un alto contenido de ácido cítrico y vitamina C. Su aspecto, como pueden ver en las imágenes, tiene forma oval o de pequeños globos, que miden más o menos entre 3,5 y 5 cm de diámetro. Inicialmente, son de un color verde intenso, y en la medida que crecen y madura, van cambiando de color hasta alcanzar un verde amarillento o en algunos casos amarillo.
As for its fruit or berry, they are appreciated worldwide for their antiseptic properties and gastronomic value, in addition, it is widely known that its pulp has a high content of citric acid and vitamin C. Their appearance, as you can see in the pictures, is oval or small balloon shaped, measuring more or less between 3.5 and 5 cm in diameter. Initially, they are of an intense green color, and as they grow and mature, they change color until they reach a yellowish green or in some cases yellow.
El interior de la fruta es de color verdoso y está estructurado en gajos, los cuales son como pequeñas bolsitas en forma de media luna, que contienen una pulpa muy jugosa, ácida y muy aromática. En el interior de cada gajo, además de la pulpa, contiene unas pequeñas semillas de color blando y forma ovalada.
The interior of the fruit is greenish in color and is structured in segments, which are like small crescent-shaped bags, containing a very juicy, acidic and very aromatic pulp. Inside each segment, in addition to the pulp, there are small, soft, oval-shaped seeds.
En lo que respeta a sus beneficios, que ofrecen los limones, como ya les comenté, son una excelente fuente de vitamina C, por lo que es genial para activar nuestro sistema inmunológico. Además, coadyuva en el proceso de absorción de hierro, lo que previene la anemia. Por otro lado, las propiedades antisépticas, de su pulpa, por aplicación externa, puede servir para atacar algunas infecciones y en algunos casos servir de desinfectante.
Regarding the benefits offered by lemons, as I already mentioned, they are an excellent source of vitamin C, which is great for activating our immune system. In addition, it aids in the process of iron absorption, which prevents anemia. On the other hand, the antiseptic properties of its pulp, by external application, can be used to attack some infections and in some cases serve as a disinfectant.
Por último, a nivel gastronómico, los limones son muy apreciados, por su aroma y la exquisita acides de su pulpa. Su zumo o jugo es muy utilizado en la maceración de carnes y pescados o como ingrediente para la preparación de aderezos, especialmente para ensaladas, pescados y frutos del mar. Además, las bebidas refrescantes, como la popular limonada preparadas con su zumo, es realmente deliciosa, incluso, es muy utilizado en la elaboración de cócteles alcohólicos. Por otro lado, en el ámbito de la repostería, es muy común usar el limón como aromatizante, bien sea añadiendo la ralladura de su cascara o agregando unas pocas gotas de su jugo.
Finally, at a gastronomic level, lemons are highly appreciated for their aroma and the exquisite acidity of their pulp. Its juice is widely used in the maceration of meat and fish or as an ingredient for the preparation of dressings, especially for salads, fish and seafood. In addition, refreshing drinks, such as the popular lemonade prepared with its juice, are really delicious, and it is even widely used in the preparation of alcoholic cocktails. On the other hand, in the field of confectionery, it is very common to use lemon as a flavoring, either by adding the zest of its peel or by adding a few drops of its juice.

Excelente post, ya esto no es unas fotografías, esto es lo que llaman una infografía 👏 ¡bravo!
Aquí en España los limones son amarillos y esos verdes de Venezuela son llamados Lima, son más caros son importados pero si que se pueden conseguir. Yo cuando llegué en 2017 no soportaba los limones amarillos, me parecían amargos y no podía con ellos. Pero ahora con el pasar del tiempo, no se que cambió que ahora si me gustan, de hecho lo mismo me sucedía con la fanta de naranja me parecía horrible tenía que pedir coca cola que es lo único que el sabor es idéntico, pero ahora si que la puedo comprar, o me acostumbré no sé ni como, o me estoy volviendo loco 🤡

Si revisas mi blog veras, que ese es mi estilo de publicación, una de mis pasiones es la fotografía pero no me gusta solo compartir las fotografías, me gusta contar las historias detrás de ellas, en el caso de ser fotos de viajes y si son fotos sobre el mundo que me rodea, como en este caso, me encanta investigar y compartir lo mucho o poco que aprendo sobre los protagonistas de mis fotografías.
No solo en España, llaman Lima a lo que aquí en Venezuela llamamos limón, creo que en la mayoría de los países así sucede. Lamentablemente, desconozco el sabor de la Lima (amarilla). Lo que te sucede con los sabores, creo que es lo que se llama gusto adquirido.
