Siempre es un gusto compartir con ustedes mi trabajo fotográfico, en esta oportunidad les traigo otra integrante de la gran familia de las Acanthaceae. Se trata nada más y nada menos que de la Violeta China o como se le conoce a nivel científico la Asistática Gangetica.
It is always a pleasure to share with you my photographic work, in this opportunity I bring you another member of the great Acanthaceae family. It is nothing more and nothing less than the Chinese Violet or as it is known scientifically the Gangetic Asystatica.
Otros nombres con los que se le conoce de forma común a esta planta de tipo rastrera y de origen asiático, son Coromandel, Dedadela Rastrera y Prímula del Ganges. Se caracteriza por tener un desarrollo bastante rápido, logrando alcanzar su madurez en menos de 2 meses, una vez germinada la planta.
Other common names for this creeping plant of Asian origin are Coromandel, Dedadela Rastrera and Primula del Ganges. It is characterized by a fairly rapid development, achieving maturity in less than 2 months, once the plant has germinated.
Sus inflorescencias en tonos blanco y purpura, suelen alcanzar 15 mm de diámetro, se desarrollan de forma solitarias. Poseen forma tubular similar a una campana, lo que genera que normalmente la confundan otros miembros de la familia de las Acanthaceae, como la Ruellia Tuberosa, mejor conocida en mi país como Yuquilla de Venezuela.
Its inflorescences in white and purple tones, usually reaching 15 mm in diameter, develop in a solitary way. They have a tubular shape similar to a bell, which usually confuses other members of the family of Acanthaceae, as the Ruellia Tuberosa, better known in my country as Yuquilla of Venezuela.
Un detalle interesante sobre esta planta es que, además de su importancia a nivel ecológico, ya que cumplen un papel esencial en la subsistencia de algunos insectos como abejas y mariposas. En algunos lugares de África sus hojas se consumen como verdura y tradicionalmente se usan de forma medicinal en aquellas personas que padecen asma.
An interesting detail about this plant is that, in addition to its importance at the ecological level, as they play an essential role in the subsistence of some insects such as bees and butterflies. In some places in Africa its leaves are consumed as a vegetable and are traditionally used for medicinal purposes by people suffering from asthma.
